Office Chair Pump Maintenance

Admin October 16, 2026

The maintenance of office chair pumps requires targeted handling based on the specific type of problem. Common faults and maintenance methods are as follows:

I. Hydraulic Pump Leakage Issues

Hydraulic pump leakage is usually caused by loose pipe joint seals or worn oil seals. Maintenance Steps:

  1. Check Pipe Joints: Confirm whether the joints are loose. If they are, retighten them;
  2. Replace Oil Seals: If the joints are not loose, replace the oil seals. Note that the model and specifications of the oil seals must be consistent with the original parts. Ensure that the oil seals are not damaged during installation to avoid secondary leakage.

II. Hydraulic Pump Non-lifting Issues

The inability of the hydraulic pump to lift may be caused by oil passage blockage or solenoid valve failure. Maintenance Steps:

  1. Check Oil Passage Patency: If the oil passage is blocked, clean it to restore flow;
  2. Test Solenoid Valve: If the oil passage is clear, check whether the solenoid valve is working properly. If the solenoid valve is faulty, replace it with a solenoid valve of the same model to ensure the normal response of the hydraulic system.

III. Other Common Issues

  1. Excessive Pump Noise: Reduce noise by adding a sound absorber or directly replacing the pump with a low-noise model;
  2. Pump Body Oil Leakage: Replace the seals or repair the leaks. After repair, test the tightness to prevent recurrence of oil leakage.

IV. Cylinder System Maintenance (for Office Swivel Chairs)

If the fault originates from the cylinder system, follow these steps:

  1. Disassemble the Base: Place the chair on a level surface, remove the fastening clips at the bottom of the seat, and use a wrench to loosen and remove the fixing bolts or nuts;
  2. Check Internal Parts: Examine the interior of the seat for damage. Confirm the type of parts that need to be replaced (such as the gas cylinder or other components), and refer to the manufacturer's manual to select compatible parts;
  3. Replace the Cylinder: Use a pipe wrench to loosen the gas cylinder and slowly remove the old cylinder, avoiding damage to other parts by forceful pulling;
  4. Install the New Cylinder: Purchase a compatible cylinder at a home improvement hardware store and align the conical end of the new cylinder with the interior of the seat for installation;
  5. Reassemble: Reinstall the base, tighten all bolts and nuts with a wrench, and test whether the seat height adjustment function works properly.

Maintenance Precautions:

  • Use parts produced by regular manufacturers to ensure compatibility and safety;
  • Follow operational specifications strictly during the maintenance process to avoid damaging other parts;
  • If the problem is complex or cannot be resolved on your own, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel to prevent greater losses due to improper operation.
