Office Chair Protect Coccyx

Admin October 16, 2026

Protecting the coccyx can be achieved by choosing the right seat, using specialized cushions, or placing a thin pillow. Here are the specific methods:

Choose an ergonomic chair with lumbar support
Ergonomic chairs are designed to better fit the curve of the human spine and can effectively disperse body pressure. When choosing, pay special attention to the lumbar support function, which can support the waist and help adjust the sitting posture. When adjusting the seat height, the knees should be slightly higher than the hips. At this time, the body's center of gravity will naturally fall on the sitting bones rather than the coccyx. As one of the main weight-bearing structures of the human body, the sitting bones can withstand more pressure than the coccyx. This sitting posture can reduce the time and intensity of direct pressure on the coccyx and lower the risk of discomfort or injury caused by prolonged pressure.

Use a hollow coccyx cushion
Hollow coccyx cushions, such as U-shaped or O-shaped cushions, are practical tools for protecting the coccyx. Their hollow design in the middle can suspend the coccyx, preventing direct contact between the coccyx and the seat surface and thus reducing continuous pressure.

  • Choose according to body shape: If you have more flesh on your buttocks, a U-shaped cushion is more stable. Its wide sides can evenly distribute body weight and reduce local pressure concentration. If you are afraid of stuffiness and sweating, the round hole of an O-shaped cushion is more breathable, and it is not easy to stick to your buttocks even when wearing a skirt in summer.
  • Choose according to the injury situation: If you have just fallen and injured your coccyx, a memory foam cushion is the top priority. It is moderately soft and hard, can provide good support and cushioning, hold the injured part, and relieve pain. If you plan to use it for a long time, a U-shaped cushion is more durable and not easy to collapse, and can continuously protect the coccyx.

Place a thin pillow on an ordinary seat
If you are using an ordinary seat, you can place a thin pillow at the back of your buttocks. The thin pillow can slightly raise your buttocks, change the force angle of the coccyx, and make the coccyx change from a state of direct pressure to indirect force, reducing the stimulation of pressure on the coccyx. This method is simple and easy to implement, with low cost, and is suitable for temporary or short-term use.
