Materials for Office Chair Profiles

Admin October 09, 2026

The profiles of office chairs mainly include multiple parts such as inner support frames, frames, lifting brackets, chair bodies, and upholstery fabrics. The commonly used materials for each part are as follows:

The inner support frame is the core supporting structure of an office chair, with mainstream materials including cold-rolled steel pipes, high-strength engineering plastics, and aluminum alloys. Cold-rolled steel pipes have high strength and rigidity, can withstand significant pressure and weight, are not easily deformed, and are commonly used in mid-to-high-end office chairs to provide stable and reliable support for users; high-strength engineering plastics are lightweight while possessing certain strength and toughness, with relatively low costs, and are widely used in some economical office chairs; aluminum alloys combine the characteristics of lightness and high strength, and have good corrosion resistance, often used in high-end office chairs, not only enhancing the overall texture of the chair but also facilitating movement and adjustment. In addition, some eco-friendly office chairs adopt alternative materials such as bamboo-based composites, which have advantages such as being eco-friendly and renewable, aligning with the concept of sustainable development.

For the frame part of office chairs, wood and wood-based composites such as density boards and plywood are commonly used. These materials are easy to process and form, can create various complex shapes and structures, provide basic frame support for office chairs, and also impart a certain aesthetic appeal to the chairs.

The lifting bracket is a key component for achieving height adjustment in office chairs, usually made of metal materials such as steel pipes. Steel pipes have sufficient strength and stability, ensuring smooth and safe lifting processes to meet the needs of different users for seat height.

For the chair body part, common materials include plastics and transparent acrylic materials such as PP and ABS. These plastic materials have good moldability and wear resistance, enabling the production of chair bodies in various colors and styles to meet different aesthetic needs. Transparent acrylic materials have a unique transparent texture, adding a touch of fashion and modernity to office chairs.

Upholstery and leather fabrics are mainly used for seat cushions and backrests, often paired with foam and latex and other filling materials. Foam has good elasticity and comfort, can deform according to the pressure distribution of the human body, providing a comfortable sitting experience; latex has natural antibacterial and anti-mite properties, and good breathability, further enhancing the comfort and healthiness of seat cushions and backrests. Leather fabrics are divided into natural leather and artificial leather. Natural leather has a high-end texture but is relatively expensive; artificial leather has a relatively low cost and is easy to clean and maintain.
