Wrinkles in Office Chair Production

Admin October 16, 2026

It is usually normal for wrinkles to appear on the leather seat surface during office chair production, which is related to the characteristics of natural leather materials and the design of the production process. However, abnormal wrinkles may indicate leather aging or maintenance issues.

Normal Wrinkles Caused by the Characteristics of Natural Leather Materials

Natural leather is rich in oils and fibers. When making the seat surface of an office chair, workers first lay the leather flat on a cutting table, cut out the required pattern for the seat along the template shape, and trim the filling foam according to the shape of the leather. During daily use, the weight and movements of the human body will gradually stretch the leather fibers, and changes in environmental temperature and humidity will also affect the state of the leather. The combined action of these factors will cause wrinkles to appear on the leather. Moreover, high-quality leather is more likely to develop fine and soft wrinkles, which is not only a proof of genuine leather material but also a manifestation of its natural texture changes.

Wrinkles Generated by the Design of the Production Process

In the production process of office chairs, when sewing the leather and foam, wrinkles are pinched at special positions according to the design requirements to form decorative thread patterns. These wrinkles are carefully designed and processed to enhance the aesthetic appeal and uniqueness of the office chair, which is a normal operation in the production process.

Problems that Abnormal Wrinkles May Indicate

However, not all wrinkles are normal. If the wrinkles are concentrated in a single area, are abnormally deep, and are accompanied by surface whitening, cracking, etc., then this is likely a sign of premature leather aging or improper maintenance. Premature leather aging may be caused by the use of low-quality leather materials or improper handling during the production process. Improper maintenance, such as long-term exposure to humid or dry environments, direct sunlight, or incorrect cleaning methods, can accelerate leather aging and cause abnormal wrinkles.
