Office Chair Production Process Flow Chart

Admin October 08, 2026

The production process of office chairs generally includes steps such as design and raw material preparation, carpentry, sponge pasting, upholstery, cutting and processing, assembly and welding, processing and coating, measurement and adjustment, soft-packaging and detail handling, and quality inspection and packaging.

  1. Design and Raw Material Preparation: Develop office chair designs based on market demand and design requirements, covering aspects such as appearance, materials, and functionality. Subsequently, prepare raw materials and accessories such as wooden boards, metal tubes, sponges, and fabrics according to design drawings and specifications.
  2. Carpentry: First, collect materials according to the production order quantity and check the compliance of material quantity, quality, and specifications with the production order and template. Then, mark the processing dimensions on the curved boards according to the template and cut the materials, perform layer board positioning, sanding, and screw installation, and finally arrange the qualified curved boards neatly and make identification records.
  3. Sponge Pasting: Collect materials according to the production order quantity and inspect them. Use a spray gun to spray glue onto the sponge wooden boards or the office chair panels to be bonded. After waiting for 4-5 minutes, press the sponge tightly against the chair panel, place the office chairs with the finished sponge pasting in designated positions neatly, and make identifications.
  4. Upholstery: Collect materials according to the production schedule and count the quantity. Trim the front leather materials, pad them with cotton, and check the symmetry of the corners and straightness. Perform operations such as stitching, pressing lines, edge binding, and connecting.
  5. Cutting and Processing: Cut wooden boards and metal tubes into the required shapes and sizes according to the design drawings. Use machinery such as planers, drill presses, and milling machines to process the raw materials to meet manufacturing requirements.
  6. Assembly and Welding: Connect the cut metal tubes into the chair frame structure through welding processes, and simultaneously install accessories such as armrests and seat supports to ensure assembly quality and stability.
  7. Processing and Coating: Sand and paint the seat wooden boards to increase gloss and protective properties; perform anti-corrosion treatment and chromium plating on metal parts to improve appearance and durability.
  8. Measurement and Adjustment: After completing assembly and coating, measure and adjust the office chairs. Adjust them by checking the seat deflection, height, and sturdiness to ensure compliance with ergonomic principles and quality requirements.
  9. Soft-Packaging and Detail Handling: Fix soft-packaging materials such as sponges and fabrics to the exterior of the seats, make seat cushions and backrests, and meticulously handle them through upholstery techniques to provide comfort and aesthetics to the office chairs.
  10. Quality Inspection and Packaging: Conduct quality inspections on the produced office chairs, checking the quality and connections of each component for compliance. After passing the inspection, package and label them for transportation and sales.
