All About Office Chair Production
Admin October 16, 2026
The production process of office chairs involves multiple steps, with slight differences in the production processes of different types of office chairs. Below are the production processes for regular office chairs and swivel office chairs:

Production Process of Regular Office Chairs
- Making the Seat Cushion Frame: Workers place square steel tubes into a hydraulic press, bending them into square seat cushion frames with rounded corners at the four corners. Then, they weld the support steel plates to the openings of the frames.
- Installing Springs and Support Bars: Hook S-shaped springs onto the frames and connect three support bars in opposite directions to the springs to complete the internal structure of the seat cushion.
- Welding and Polishing Armrest Connectors and Backrests: Treat the armrest connectors and backrests of the chairs in a similar way to the welding of the seat cushion frames, welding first and then polishing.
- Making the Exterior Parts:
- Workers place plastic templates for parts such as headrests and armrests on top of the leather and use a utility knife to cut black leather according to the template patterns as the surface materials for the parts.
- Glue the leather onto harder foam cushions and cut out slightly larger foam pads to make the seat cushion and backrest parts. To ensure comfort, softer fluffy foam pads are used. First, cut them into larger squares, then cut them into connected but separate rectangles according to the measured spacing. Mark the same intervals on the leather and pleat and sew it to form the basic shape of the leather surface of the seat backrest.
- Sew the leather and decorations of the seat cushion to improve the comfort and aesthetics of the seat.
- Wrapping the Metal Frame: Wrap the surface of the metal frame with foam pads, then put the sewn leather cover on it for decoration, and fix the cover plate and the frame with screws.
- Installing Height-Adjustable and Support Components: Connect the height-adjustable armrests, hydraulic rods, gas springs, and the support rods at the bottom of the seat to the metal base to ensure that the office chair can be freely raised and lowered.
- Installing Wheels: Install the chair wheels at the bottom.
- Installing Headrests and Armrests: Insert the headrests and armrests into specific positions.
Production Process of Swivel Office Chairs
- Welding the Base and Seat Frame: Weld a sturdy base, install steel springs from the front, and insert support frames between the springs. After completing the seat frame, weld the backrest frame.
- Cutting Leather and Foam: Workers flatten the leather on a cutting table, cut the leather according to the template, and then cut foam blocks. The foam on the chair has different densities, with soft foam used for cushioning and hard foam used for shaping.
- Sewing Leather and Foam: Divide the leather according to size and sew it together with the foam.
- Assembling the Seat: Add particle board and foam to the welded frame, wrap the seat with leather, screw on plastic cover plates at the bottom, install the base, support rods, support plates, and the hydraulic rod of the height-adjustable valve seat, which can control the chair's height adjustment and 360-degree rotation. Finally, install an aluminum base and casters, and attach the headrest and armrest parts.
