Office Chair Processing Technology

Admin October 11, 2026

The processing technology of office chairs generally includes steps such as design and raw material preparation, cutting and processing, assembly and welding, processing and coating, measurement and adjustment, soft upholstery and detail handling, and quality inspection and packaging.

  1. Design and raw material preparation: Conduct office chair design work based on market demand and design requirements, covering aspects such as appearance, materials, and functions. Then, prepare raw materials such as wooden boards, metal tubes, sponges, and fabrics, as well as related accessories according to the design drawings and specifications.
  2. Cutting and processing: Cut the wooden boards and metal tubes into the required shapes and sizes according to the design drawings. Use mechanical equipment such as planers, drill presses, and milling machines to process the raw materials to meet the manufacturing requirements.
  3. Assembly and welding: Connect the cut metal tubes through welding processes to form the chair frame structure. At the same time, install accessories such as armrests and seat supports onto the frame to ensure assembly quality and stability. In the production of swivel office chairs, a sturdy base should be welded first, steel springs should be installed from the front, and support frames should be inserted between the springs. After completing the seat frame, the backrest frame should be welded.
  4. Processing and coating: Polish and paint the seat wooden boards to increase their gloss and protective properties; perform anti-corrosion treatment and chromium plating on metal components to enhance their appearance and durability.
  5. Measurement and adjustment: After completing assembly and coating, measure and adjust the office chair. Adjust it by detecting indicators such as the deflection, height, and sturdiness of the seat to ensure it complies with ergonomic principles and quality requirements.
  6. Soft upholstery and detail handling: Fix soft upholstery materials such as sponges and fabrics onto the exterior of the seat to make seat cushions and backrests. Through detailed fabric craftsmanship, make the office chair comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. In the production of swivel office chairs, workers flatten the leather on a cutting table and cut out pieces of leather according to templates. After cutting, they cut sponge blocks. The sponges have different densities; soft ones are used for cushioning, and hard ones are used for shaping the chair during twisting. The leather is divided according to size and sewn together with the sponge. The previously welded frame is then covered with particle board, sponge foam, and leather. After the seat is installed, plastic cover plates are screwed on underneath.
  7. Quality inspection and packaging: Conduct quality inspections on the produced office chairs to check whether the quality and connections of each component are qualified. After passing the inspection, package and label them for transportation and sales.
