Office Chair Processing and Manufacturing

Admin October 09, 2026

The processing and manufacturing process of office chairs involves multiple rigorous and orderly steps, as detailed below:

Bottom Frame Fabrication

Workers first use hydraulic-powered machines to bend 14-gauge steel tubes into shape, creating the frame for the bottom cushion. After the frame is initially formed, the ends are connected, and steel rods are welded in the middle. These rods play a crucial role in supporting the mechanism that adjusts the seat position, ensuring flexible adjustment.

Spring and Support Structure Installation

From the front to the back of the seat frame, workers hang S-shaped steel springs. These wave-shaped springs work together to form an elastic net in the seat, providing a comfortable sitting experience for users. At the same time, to add extra stability and support, horizontal rods are placed and clamped onto the springs.

Back Frame Construction and Treatment

Constructing the back frame of the chair is one of the key steps, including assembling the spine, armrest attachments, and other components. After assembly, burrs and other rough areas on the steel need to be ground smooth to ensure a smooth frame surface and prevent injury to users during use.

Leather and Foam Processing

In leather processing, workers first smooth the leather and place it evenly on the cutting table. Then, they cut patterns according to cardboard templates, avoiding natural flaws in the leather during the cutting process to ensure the integrity and aesthetics of the leather. Meanwhile, when cutting foam pads for the back of the chair, different densities of foam are selected according to the needs of different parts. The seat cushion requires harder foam to maintain its shape, while the backrest uses softer foam for increased comfort.

Assembly and Adjustment Device Installation

The leather and foam are sewn together, with pleats pinched at special positions as needed to create decorative thread patterns. The seat back, side panels, and contour covers are sewn separately. Next, a layer of cardboard is added to the backrest frame, followed by a layer of foam, and finally wrapped with a leather cover. A sliding plate assembly is installed to allow forward and backward adjustment of the seat cushion position. Then, a hydraulic cylinder is installed, enabling height adjustment and 360-degree rotation of the chair. The hydraulic cylinder is connected to an aluminum base, and casters are inserted. Finally, a headrest and armrests are installed on the backrest, and the comfortable office chair is complete.
