Office Chair Powder Coating

Admin October 10, 2026

Office chair powder coating is a process that utilizes electrostatic powder spraying technology to form a robust coating on furniture surfaces, characterized by environmental friendliness, durability, aesthetics, and rust resistance.

Process Principle

Professionally known as electrostatic powder spraying, the core principle of office chair powder coating involves using an electrostatic spray gun to charge powder coatings negatively and spray them onto the surface of grounded (positive) steel tube workpieces. Under electrostatic force, the powder uniformly adheres to the workpiece, which is then transferred into a high-temperature curing oven at approximately 200ยฐC. The powder melts, flows, and ultimately cures, forming a plastic powder coating with a thickness of over 60 microns. This process, akin to high-temperature 'firing', results in a coating with high hardness and strong adhesion, leaving only shallow marks even when scratched vigorously with a key.

Key Features

  1. Environmental Friendliness: Powder coatings contain no solvents, are non-toxic and harmless, comply with environmental standards, and do not release harmful substances during application or use.
  2. Durability: The coating is resistant to wear and corrosion, significantly extending the lifespan of office chairs. Its high-temperature curing process ensures tight bonding between the coating and the substrate, providing excellent impact resistance.
  3. Aesthetics: A wide range of colors is available, customizable according to design requirements, enhancing the overall visual appeal of furniture. The coating surface is smooth and uniform, with a high-quality texture.
  4. Rust Resistance: The dense and sufficiently thick plastic powder coating provides outstanding rust protection with a single application, particularly suitable for office chairs with metal frames.

Application Scenarios and Construction Requirements

Powder coating is widely applied to indoor tables and chairs, including office desks, conference tables, dining tables and chairs, and office chairs. The construction environment must be kept dry and dust-free to ensure coating quality. The curing temperature is typically controlled between 180-200ยฐC for 10-15 minutes, with specific parameters adjusted according to the type of powder. When storing powder coatings, they should be kept in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture absorption, which can lead to clumping or performance degradation.

Summary of Advantages

Office chair powder coating achieves a balance between environmental friendliness, durability, aesthetics, and rust resistance through electrostatic adhesion and high-temperature curing technologies. With high construction efficiency and stable coating performance, it is one of the mainstream surface treatment processes in modern furniture manufacturing.
