Office Chair Policy

Admin October 09, 2026

According to the 'Guidelines on Specifications and Performance of General Office Furniture for Central Administrative Institutions' issued by the National Government Offices Administration and relevant allocation standards, the policy requirements for office chairs in central administrative institutions are as follows:

I. Allocation Standards The allocation of office chairs must strictly adhere to price ceilings and quantity limits. For department-level personnel, the price per set of office chairs must not exceed 1,500 yuan, while for section-level and below personnel, the price per set must not exceed 800 yuan. Each person is allocated one set, and exceeding this limit is not allowed. This standard aims to control administrative costs and avoid resource wastage.

II. Service Life The minimum service life of office chairs is 15 years. After reaching this age, if they are still in normal use, they must continue to be used and must not be replaced arbitrarily. This regulation emphasizes the durability of furniture and reduces resource consumption caused by frequent replacements.

III. Performance Requirements Office chairs must conform to the principles of simplicity, practicality, and classic durability. The allocation of luxury furniture or the use of precious woods is prohibited. The selection of materials, manufacturing, and transportation processes must comply with national resource conservation and green environmental protection standards, such as using renewable materials and low-volatile organic compound (VOC) coatings, to reduce environmental impact.

IV. Management Principles Demand fulfillment should be prioritized through internal transfers within the institution or cross-departmental transfers from the public property warehouse of central administrative institutions to reduce the need for new purchases. When purchases are indeed necessary, strict approval procedures must be followed, and allocation must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the 'Guidelines' to ensure procurement compliance.

V. Other Regulations The style of office chairs should be coordinated with the architectural decoration style, with a preference for solid colors to avoid flashy designs. The structure must conform to ergonomic principles to ensure user comfort. At the same time, it is prohibited to use the issuance of the 'Guidelines' as an excuse to conduct large-scale updates of currently normally functioning office chairs, preventing unnecessary replacements in the name of policy.

Scope of Application: The above policies apply to central administrative institutions, and local institutions may refer to them for implementation. This regulation provides a unified framework for the management of office furniture in administrative institutions across the country, promoting resource conservation and standardized management.
