Office Chair Pneumatic Operation
The pneumatic operation of office chairs mainly involves height adjustment and deflation of pneumatic lift chairs, as detailed below:

I. Height Adjustment Operation
Locate the Control Lever
Look for the control lever beneath the seat, typically on the right or left side, usually a single lever or button. Multi-functional chairs may have two levers, one for height adjustment and the other for backrest angle adjustment.Adjust Your Sitting Posture
After sitting down, ensure your feet are flat on the ground and your thighs and lower legs form a 90-degree angle. This posture serves as the reference for adjustment, preventing ineffective adjustment or discomfort due to improper posture.Operate the Control Lever
- Lever-type: Pull the control lever outward or downward and hold it.
- Button-type: Press the button directly.
- Assistance Tip: If the chair is heavy or difficult to adjust, slightly lift your hips to reduce the pressure from your body weight, making the lift smoother.
Adjust Height Using Body Weight
- Raise the Seat: Pull up the control lever when no one is sitting on the chair, and the rebound force of the high-pressure nitrogen inside will push the seat upward.
- Lower the Seat: Pull up the control lever while sitting, and your body weight will overcome part of the nitrogen pressure, allowing the seat to descend smoothly.
Principle: Pulling up the control lever opens the internal valve of the pneumatic rod. When sitting, your body weight causes the nitrogen to flow between the upper and lower chambers of the piston. When standing up, the high-pressure nitrogen pushes the piston back into place, and the outer cylinder (upright tube) fixes the piston rod and transfers pressure to the five-star base, enabling vertical lift.
II. Pneumatic Rod Deflation Operation (Irreversible)
Safety Preparation and Environment Inspection
Raise the chair to its highest position, choose a stable and spacious operating area, and wear protective gear such as gloves to avoid injury from gas ejection or flying parts.Disassemble the Base and Locate the Deflation Valve
- Flip the chair so that the five-star base faces upward, use a screwdriver to remove the four fastening bolts connecting the seat panel and the base, and separate the seat from the base.
- Locate the white/blue plastic clip (button) inside the central hole of the base, and use pliers to pull it out, revealing the metal pin (deflation valve).
Perform Deflation Operation
Use a slender tool (such as the tip of a Phillips screwdriver) to slowly and evenly press the metal pin until the gas is fully exhausted and the sound disappears. Note: After deflation, the pneumatic rod permanently loses its lifting function and is only suitable for resolving issues such as jamming or air leakage or for long-term use at a fixed height.
Risk Warning: Deflation operation involves the risk of high-pressure gas ejection. Ensure the chair is raised to its highest position, apply force slowly during operation, and always perform the operation in an open area with proper personal protection.
