Office Chair Plus and Minus Buttons

Admin October 08, 2026

The plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on a computer ergonomic chair are quick-control switches for adjusting the seat height, with the '+' button used to raise the seat and the '-' button used to lower it. Here are the specific details:

Button Location

The plus and minus buttons or control levers are typically located directly beneath the seat cushion, possibly on the right side, left side, or front edge. The button positions may vary slightly depending on the brand and model of the computer ergonomic chair, but they are all in easily accessible positions beneath the cushion.

Adjustment Method

When adjusting the seat height, first sit on the chair with your feet flat on the ground and your knees naturally bent at a 90-degree angle. Press the '+' button, and the gas lift will release pressure, causing the seat to rise slowly; press the '-' button, and the seat will descend slowly. When pressing the buttons, do not hold them down continuously. Instead, press and release them to observe the lifting or lowering speed, allowing for more precise control of the seat height and avoiding the impact of overly fast or slow adjustments on the adjustment effect.

Ideal Height Standard

The ideal seat height is one where, when seated, your line of sight is level with the top edge of the computer screen, reducing neck and eye fatigue and maintaining a comfortable visual experience. At the same time, when your arms hang naturally, your elbows should be able to rest on the desktop at approximately a 90-degree angle. This height setting helps reduce pressure on the arms and shoulders, keeping the body in a natural and relaxed state and improving work and study efficiency.

Locking Function

After adjusting to the appropriate position, release the button or lever, and you should hear a slight 'click' locking sound, indicating that the seat has been locked at the current height and will not automatically slide down or wobble. If no locking sound is heard, the adjustment may not be in place, or there may be a fault with the seat, requiring readjustment or inspection and repair.
