Office Chair Plastic Chair Installation

Admin October 09, 2026

The installation steps for office chairs (plastic chairs) are as follows:

I. Unpacking Preparation

  1. Inventory of Components and Inspection of Packaging
After opening the packaging, verify that all components (chair legs, seat cushion, backrest, screw pack, etc.) are present and inspect the plastic and metal parts for any cracks or damage caused during transportation.
  2. Tool Preparation
Typically, tools such as an Allen wrench (most common), Phillips/flat-head screwdrivers, and a box wrench are required. Most products come with an accessory pack; if not included, prepare tools according to the screw types.
  3. Installation Environment Requirements
Ensure the installation area has a flat surface, ample space, and sufficient lighting to avoid installation errors due to inadequate workspace or poor visibility.

II. General Assembly Steps

  1. Installing the Base and Casters (if applicable)
    • If the chair comes with a five-star base and casters, align the casters (swivel casters) with the sockets at the bottom of the base and press vertically until a "click" sound indicates full engagement.
    • Threaded casters need to be screwed into the holes, ensuring all wheels are securely installed without any risk of loosening or detachment.
  2. Installing the Lifting Gas Cylinder (if applicable)
    • For adjustable-height swivel chairs, remove the plastic protective cap from the top of the gas cylinder.
    • Place the thinner end of the gas cylinder (usually with a button) upwards and insert it vertically into the circular hole in the center of the five-star base, pressing gently to the bottom.
  3. Installing the Seat Cushion and Connecting the Base Plate
    • Place the seat cushion face down on a soft surface (such as a carpet or cardboard box) to avoid scratches.
    • Locate the metal or plastic base plate at the bottom of the seat, align the screw holes according to the arrow markings in the instructions, and temporarily secure them with the provided screws (do not fully tighten yet for subsequent adjustments).
  4. Assembling the Backrest and Armrests
    • Align the armrest components with the left and right markings on the side of the seat cushion, insert them or temporarily connect them with screws.
    • Align the backrest with the connection points on the armrests and the rear of the seat cushion, insert the connecting screws through all holes, and temporarily tighten them.
    • After all structural connections are complete, gradually tighten the screws in a diagonal sequence to ensure even force distribution.
  5. Final Assembly and Securement
    • Lift the assembled seat cushion (including backrest and armrests) and align it with the installed base.
    • For chairs with a gas cylinder, place the hole at the bottom of the seat cushion over the gas cylinder to complete the final securement.

III. Special Model Considerations

Different brands or models of chairs may have specific details, such as:

  • Short screws are required to install the tray, and medium screws are used to secure the backrest bar (with the bar's groove facing upwards).
  • After inserting the five-star base gas cylinder into the tray hole, insert the backrest bar into the outer tray hole and tighten the nut.
  • For massage models, plug in the power massage cord, and for footrest components, use small screws to block the tail holes to prevent extraction.
It is recommended to carefully read the instructions before installation to avoid structural instability or damage to components due to improper operation.
