Drawing Office Chair Plans

Admin October 12, 2026

Refer to the following steps and methods for drawing office chair plans:

I. Basic Outline Drawing

  1. Determine Proportions and Layout
Based on the overall planning of the office space, determine the position of the office chair in the plan and its proportional relationship with other furniture (such as desks). Typically, a space of about 60-80 centimeters should be reserved between the office chair and the desktop to ensure comfort.
  2. Draw the Main Outline of the Chair
    • Executive Chair: Use curved lines to reflect the rounded feel of a leather seat. Start by drawing an approximately elliptical seat surface, then connect it to a curved backrest below. The height of the backrest should be about 1.5 times that of the seat surface. The chair legs can be simplified as four curved support legs or directly represented by a circular base for the swivel function.
    • Guest Chair: Adopt a straight-edged design with rectangular seat and backrest surfaces. The backrest is perpendicular to the seat surface, with a height about 1.2 times that of the seat surface. The chair legs can be drawn as four straight lines or simplified into two crossed support structures.

II. Detail Refinement and Functional Expression

  1. Material and Texture
    • Leather Executive Chair: Add short arcs or crossed lines on the seat and backrest surfaces to simulate the folds and texture of leather.
    • Guest Chair: If made of wood or plastic, use parallel straight lines to represent wood grain or omit the texture to simplify the graphic.
  2. Functional Component Labeling
    • The executive chair should be labeled with armrests (extended as rectangles or arcs to both sides of the backrest) and a swivel base (circular or cross-shaped structure).
    • The guest chair can be labeled to indicate whether it has wheels (add small circles at the bottom of the chair legs) or a folding function (use dashed lines to represent foldable parts).

III. Optimize Design with Reference to CAD Drawings

  1. Utilize Drawing Library Resources
Obtain standard dimensions and structural references from office chair CAD drawing libraries or office furniture CAD drawing libraries. For example, common office chair seat widths range from 45-50 centimeters, depths from 40-45 centimeters, and backrest heights from 50-60 centimeters.
  2. Line Specifications
    • Solid lines represent visible outlines, while dashed lines represent hidden structures (such as internal supports in the chair legs).
    • Line thickness should be distinguished: use thick lines (0.5-0.7 millimeters) for the main outline and thin lines (0.2-0.3 millimeters) for detail decorations.

IV. Scene Integration and Inspection

  1. Match with the Desk
Ensure that the height of the chair coordinates with the desktop (the desktop height is usually 72-75 centimeters, and the seat height of the chair is 40-45 centimeters), and reserve enough space for leg movement.
  2. Proportion and Perspective Inspection
If it is a top view, ensure that the proportions of the chair parts conform to reality; if it is an axonometric view, pay attention to the accuracy of the perspective relationship to avoid distortion.

By following these steps, you can systematically complete the plan drawing of an office chair, balancing functional expression and visual aesthetics.
