Office Chair Placement Issues

Admin October 19, 2026

If the backrest of an office chair cannot be laid flat, follow these steps for troubleshooting and handling; there are also corresponding operation methods for adjusting the office chair to the appropriate height and angle.

Solutions for an Office Chair Backrest That Cannot Be Laid Flat

  • Check the Cable Control Switch: The cable control switch is a key component for controlling the backrest angle. If the backrest cannot be laid flat, first check whether the cable control switch is closed. If the cable is loose, it can be repaired by adjusting the nut to lengthen the distance; if the cable is broken, a new one needs to be replaced; if the cable is unhooked, simply reattach the terminal.
  • Check the Small Gas Cylinder: If the cable control switch is fine, then check the small gas cylinder. Gently press the thin end of the gas cylinder with your hand to feel for air pressure. If there is no air pressure and the gas cylinder can easily retract, it means the gas cylinder is damaged and needs to be replaced with a new one.

Methods for Adjusting an Office Chair to the Appropriate Height and Angle

  • Adjusting the Chair Height:
    • Pneumatic Chair: Locate the control lever, usually located on the right or left side under the seat. Pull the control lever outward and hold it while slightly lifting your body off the seat to reduce pressure. Then slowly sit down until you reach the desired height, and finally release the control lever to lock the position.
    • Non-pneumatic Chair: Locate the height adjustment bolt, loosen the bolt and pull the seat up or down until you reach the appropriate height, and then tighten the bolt again to lock the position.
  • Adjusting the Chair Angle:
    • Rotating Adjustment Button: Locate the rotatable adjustment button under the back of the seat. Turn the button to increase the backrest's recline angle until you reach a comfortable position.
    • Using the Adjustment Lever: Locate the adjustment lever under the seat. Push the lever upward to adjust the seat angle while maintaining balance to avoid sudden tilting.
  • Testing the Chair: Sit on the chair and ensure that your feet are flat on the ground and your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle to verify whether the chair's height and angle are appropriate. If not, repeat the above adjustment steps until you achieve the best usage state.
