Office Chair Piping Folding

Admin October 16, 2026

There is no directly corresponding specific standard operating information for “office chair piping folding”. The following are the general steps for piping production. It is advisable to consult professionals regarding whether these steps are applicable to office chairs:

  1. Pre-process the piping strip:
    • Fold the piping strip inward to the width of a seam allowance. This step is to reserve space for subsequent stitching, ensuring that the piping strip can neatly wrap around the edge of the workpiece. Use an iron to press it flat, making the crease clearer and firmer to avoid misalignment or unevenness during subsequent operations.
  2. Preliminarily stitch the piping strip to the workpiece:
    • Place the workpiece to be piped with its front side facing up and the piping strip with its reverse side facing up, leaving a length of at least 7 centimeters. Leaving a certain length is for the convenience of subsequently handling the two ends of the piping strip to achieve a perfect connection. Start stitching from a position close to the rounded corner because the rounded corner is relatively difficult to handle. Starting from here allows for better control of the direction and shape of the piping strip.
  3. Handle the two ends of the piping strip:
    • Pause stitching after going around the last corner. Smooth out the two ends of the piping strip along the edge of the workpiece so that they overlap. Use scissors to cut a small notch at the overlapping part as a mark. This mark will serve as a reference point for subsequent cutting and connection. Starting from the marked point, draw an angle line at a 45-degree angle to the edge on each end of the piping strip, ensuring that the two lines are parallel. Then expand the angle lines outward by a seam allowance and cut off the excess piping strip. This ensures a flatter and more natural connection of the two ends of the piping strip.
  4. Complete the stitching of the piping strip to the workpiece:
    • After connecting the two ends of the piping strip, continue to complete the stitching with the workpiece. During stitching, pay attention to keeping the stitches even and tight to avoid skipped stitches or loose stitches.
  5. Iron and fix:
    • Turn the piping strip outward and iron it to make it flatter and more crisp, enhancing the overall aesthetics. Turn the workpiece to the reverse side, fold the piping strip and fix it with pearl pins to prevent the piping strip from shifting during subsequent operations.
  6. Final stitching:
    • Turn the workpiece to the front side again and stitch a uniform line along the edge of the piping strip to further fix the piping strip and make it more firmly combined with the workpiece.
