Office Chair Performance Description

Admin October 22, 2026

The core performance differences of office chairs made of different materials are mainly reflected in five aspects: breathability, durability, comfort, cleaning and maintenance difficulty, and applicable scenarios:

1. Breathability Mesh-fabric office chairs offer the best breathability. The mesh structure can quickly dissipate heat and moisture, making them less prone to sweating during long periods of sitting, and suitable for extended office work. PU/genuine leather chairs have poor breathability and tend to accumulate heat in summer. Fabric chairs have moderate breathability, with cotton and linen materials being more prone to attracting dust and mites. Plastic-bodied office chairs have no breathability, and the hard surface can lead to stuffiness. The breathability of metal-framed chairs with cushions depends on the cushion material, with mesh or breathable foam performing better.

2. Durability High-quality nylon mesh is resistant to aging and tearing but is vulnerable to being snagged by sharp objects. PU leather has a lifespan of 3-5 years, while genuine leather lasts longer but requires regular maintenance. Both are susceptible to scratches and moisture. Fabric chairs are prone to pilling and deformation, with relatively weak durability. Plastic bodies can easily age and become brittle under prolonged exposure to sunlight and have limited load-bearing capacity. Metal frames (steel or aluminum alloy) are extremely strong and have an exceptionally long lifespan, making them the most durable material.

3. Comfort Mesh-fabric chairs provide a uniform and conforming sitting experience, with high-elastic mesh offering stable support. PU/genuine leather chairs have a soft sitting feel and a high-end appearance. Fabric chairs are skin-friendly and soft, creating a warm atmosphere. Plastic bodies lack cushioning support and can cause back and waist pain during prolonged sitting. The comfort of metal-framed chairs with cushions depends on the cushion design, with high-quality cushions enhancing support and conformity. Some multifunctional office chairs feature back-conforming technology, synchronous seat-back rocking functions, paddle-controlled height and recline adjustments, and multi-dimensional armrest adjustments, further optimizing the comfort experience.

4. Cleaning and Maintenance Difficulty Mesh-fabric chairs only require wiping with a damp cloth, and dust in the gaps can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. PU/genuine leather chairs can be wiped with a damp, soft cloth and should not be cleaned with corrosive agents. Fabric chairs with removable covers are easy to clean, while non-removable ones are prone to bacteria growth. Plastic bodies have a smooth surface that is easy to wipe but tend to accumulate dust in the gaps. Metal frames are easy to clean but require attention to rust prevention.

5. Applicable Scenarios Mesh-fabric chairs are suitable for open office areas and regular workstations. PU/genuine leather chairs are ideal for executive offices and meeting and negotiation areas. Fabric chairs are often used in leisure office areas and small meeting rooms. Plastic bodies are only suitable for temporary office areas and conference backup chairs. Metal-framed chairs with cushions are applicable to scenarios with high durability requirements, such as long-term office work or high-frequency use environments. Nap-friendly office chairs need to comply with group standards, paying attention to requirements such as size, mechanical properties, flame retardancy, and limits on harmful substances.
