Peeling of Office Chair
Admin October 22, 2026
When an office chair starts to peel, you can first identify the cause and then choose appropriate methods such as cleaning, glue repair, using professional repair agents, applying leather repair patches, or replacing the seat cover or the office chair itself based on the degree of peeling.

The main reasons for the peeling of office chairs are as follows:
- Material factors: Using low-quality or overly thin artificial board materials to make office chairs can lead to surface deformation, cracking, and delamination, which in turn affects the service life and causes peeling.
- Processing technology factors: Some manufacturers reduce costs by adopting simple processing procedures, such as not performing sealing treatments or not sanding sufficiently. This can result in loose surface paint, making it prone to peeling and falling off.
- Environmental factors: The materials used in low-end office chairs are prone to deformation or cracking. In high-temperature or humid environments, the surface is likely to peel; prolonged exposure to sunlight can also cause the paint to fall off and peel.
- Other factors: Improper usage habits and maintenance methods, such as frequently rubbing the surface of the office chair with hard objects, excessive wiping, or using cleaners containing acidic substances, can damage the paint surface and trigger peeling.
For different peeling situations, the following treatment measures can be taken:
- Clean the surface of the office chair seat: If the surface only has slight wear or stains, gently wipe it clean with a damp cloth; for stubborn stains, spray the cleaner on the stains and then gently wipe with a damp cloth. Be careful not to use overly harsh cleaners.
- Repair with glue: When there are obvious cracks or peeling on the leather surface, first clean the surface, apply glue to the cracked or peeled areas, place a heavy object on the glued leather surface to keep it flat, and wait a few minutes to ensure the glue dries completely. The repair glue should be similar in color to the office chair.
- Use professional repair agents: When the leather surface is severely damaged, it is recommended to use professional repair agents. When purchasing, pay attention to matching the color and texture with the office chair, and use an appropriate amount.
- Use leather repair patches: These can repair damaged office chair surfaces with a simple peel-and-stick process.
- Replace the seat cover or office chair: If none of the above methods can effectively repair the leather surface, you can replace the seat cover or directly replace the office chair.
