Office Chair Panel Process
Admin October 11, 2026
The office chair panel process mainly includes material selection and drying, cold and hot pressing molding, cutting and precision milling, sanding and coating, etc. Different types of office chairs also have specific requirements during the log processing stage.

For T-shaped wooden auditorium chairs, the process flow for their wooden panel components (seat panels and back panels) is as follows:
- Material Selection and Drying: In terms of material selection, high-quality multi-layer plywood or hardwood bent wood are preferred. Common materials include birch and beech. Drying treatment is crucial. To prevent wood cracking and deformation, high-frequency drying or steam drying must be carried out to strictly control the wood moisture content between 8% and 12%. This step ensures that the wood maintains stable performance during subsequent processing and use, avoiding various problems caused by improper moisture content.
- Cold and Hot Pressing Molding: This is a key step in forming the unique T-shaped curve. Using large cold or hot pressing molds, multi-layer glued wooden panels are pressed and shaped under high temperatures of 160-180ยฐC and pressures of 100-150 tons, with a holding time usually ranging from 15 to 25 minutes. Such process conditions ensure that the glue is fully cured, making the curve durable and stable to meet the usage requirements of auditorium chairs.
- Cutting and Precision Milling: Using CNC engraving machines or milling machines, the outer contours are precisely cut according to the T-shaped design drawings, and precise slots and screw holes for metal connectors are also milled. The tolerance is usually controlled within ยฑ0.5mm. High-precision processing ensures the assembly accuracy between components, making the chair structure stable.
- Sanding and Coating: First, multiple processes from rough sanding (80-grit sandpaper) to fine sanding (240-grit sandpaper) are carried out to ensure a smooth surface without burrs, improving user comfort. Then, primer, color paint, and topcoat (polyester paint or UV paint) are sprayed. Some high-end products also adopt baking paint processes with an adhesion level of 2, enhancing the durability and aesthetics of the coating.
For the production of general office chairs, during the log processing stage, log sawing is an important step. Logs need to be cut into panels that meet design requirements, and the cutting method should be selected according to the wood grain and chair structure, such as radial cutting and tangential cutting, to reduce the risk of cracking.
