Office Chair Painting

Admin October 08, 2026

There are mainly two types of office chair painting: ordinary spraying and baking paint, which differ in principle, effect, and application scenarios.

Types and Principles of Painting

Ordinary spraying usually refers to electrostatic powder spraying or self-drying paint, which mainly relies on physical drying or low-temperature baking to form a film. Baking paint, on the other hand, must undergo high-temperature baking, typically within the range of 180โ„ƒ to 250โ„ƒ, causing the paint to undergo a chemical cross-linking reaction and form a dense network structure. This different film-forming method determines their significant differences in performance.

Comparison of Painting Effects

Baking paint has extremely strong adhesion and excellent resistance to scratching, corrosion, and yellowing. Its surface is smooth and flat, with high and uniform gloss, and rich colors, presenting a high-end metallic texture that makes office chairs look more upscale. In contrast, ordinary spraying may result in color differences or rough textures due to uneven thickness. If the process is not properly controlled, it is also prone to orange peel and sagging phenomena, and its hardness is relatively low, making the surface prone to wear and whitening after long-term use, affecting aesthetics and service life.

Selection of Application Scenarios

Based on the above differences in effects, high-end indoor leisure chairs and office chairs often choose baking paint processes to enhance the overall grade and quality of the products, meeting consumers' demands for aesthetics and durability. For office chairs used outdoors or in low-cost scenarios with strict cost requirements, ordinary spraying may be chosen to save costs.

Key Points of Painting Operation

Taking the renovation of an old office chair with painting as an example, first find an open and ventilated location and prepare tools such as self-spray paint, sandpaper, and a cloth. Then clean the dust on the surface of the office chair. If the paint layer on the surface is damaged or peeling, the old paint layer needs to be removed first and then sanded; if the glaze or paint film is intact, sand it directly until the surface is flat and has a slightly abrasive texture. When applying paint, consider the base color. Light colors can be directly painted, while dark colors require a white paint base. Before using self-spray paint, shake the can to fully mix the contents inside to ensure an even painting effect.
