Office Chair Packing Requirements
Admin October 16, 2026
Office chairs should be packed either intact or disassembled based on actual conditions, following corresponding steps and precautions.

I. Preliminary Preparations
- Materials and Tools: Prepare bubble wrap, stretch wrap, wrapping paper, cardboard boxes (recommended sizes: 60x40x50cm or 50x40x40cm), dust bags, wide tape, parts bags, markers, and label paper; if disassembly is required, prepare an additional rubber mallet.
- Determine Whether to Disassemble:
- Intact Packing Scenarios: When the moving aisles and transport vehicles have ample space; when the chair has a simple structure or is complex to disassemble; when efficiency is prioritized. Wrap the entire chair with multiple layers of bubble wrap and stretch wrap directly.
- Disassembly Scenarios: When moving space is limited; when the chair is of high value or has a delicate structure; when long-distance transportation or long-term storage is required. Evaluate the moving space, structural complexity, chair value, and available time. If two or more of the first three factors require careful protection, disassembly is recommended.
II. Packing Steps
- Cleaning: Wipe the chair with a cloth, including the armrests, backrest, and other parts.
- Disassembly and Wrapping:
- For disassemblable chairs: Disassemble in the order of “from the outside in, from top to bottom, and in reverse assembly sequence”. Wrap each part with stretch wrap to prevent scratches; for non-disassemblable chairs, wrap them tightly with stretch wrap directly.
- Wrapping Requirements: Wrap with at least three to five layers of stretch wrap and bubble wrap to avoid looseness; ensure special parts like chair legs are wrapped tightly.
- Outer Packaging Handling:
- If the original packaging is intact: Place the chair directly into the original cardboard box.
- If the original packaging is lost: Cut cardboard to make outer packaging and protect the edges with hard corner protectors; for valuable chairs (e.g., rosewood, solid wood), make a frame-style wooden crate and fill the interior with foam or clothing to reduce gaps.
- Labeling and Reminders: Stick labels on the packaging indicating “Fragile” or “Valuable” to remind movers to handle with care.
III. Other Precautions
- Study the instruction manual carefully before disassembly to avoid forced assembly or disassembly, and store the parts properly.
- Use the seat surface as the point of force when moving to avoid stress on the armrests.
- Measure the dimensions of large chairs before moving and plan the route.
- Check the “packing volume” or “logistics dimensions” when purchasing, prioritize shock-resistant packaging, and be wary of “bare shipping”.
- For bulk transportation, use a herringbone stacking method and cover the top layer with a waterproof cloth; logistics fees are charged based on the higher of volumetric weight or actual weight, so measure in advance to avoid exceeding estimated freight costs.
