Office Chair Packaging Standards
Office chair packaging standards should be comprehensively considered from five aspects: material preparation, plan selection, operation process, size specifications, and standard references. Details are as follows:

1. Material and Tool Preparation
- Core Protective Materials: Bubble wrap is used to wrap the chair body, backrest, legs, and other components, providing cushioning and shock absorption; stretch wrap is used for outer layer fixation to prevent dust and dirt; wrapping paper or old newspapers can be used to wrap painted surfaces or easily soiled parts; recommended carton sizes are 60x40x50cm or 50x40x40cm to ensure accommodation of main components; dust bags or disposable tablecloths are placed inside the carton to enhance dust and water resistance.
- Fixing and Storage Tools: Wide tape is used to seal the carton and fix material edges; accessory bags or sealed plastic bags are used to store small parts such as screws and washers; markers and label paper are used to mark components or accessory bags for easy assembly identification.
- Auxiliary Tools: Rubber hammers are used to disassemble tightly fitted components such as gas rods, avoiding damage to painted surfaces by metal hammers.
2. Packaging Plan Selection
- Packaging Without Disassembly: Suitable for scenarios where moving corridors and transport vehicles have ample space, the chair has a simple structure or is complex to disassemble, and quick packaging is required. The operation method involves directly wrapping the entire chair with multiple layers of bubble wrap and stretch wrap.
- Packaging After Disassembly: Suitable for scenarios with limited moving space (such as narrow staircases or small elevators), high-value or precisely structured chairs, or long-distance transportation or long-term storage. The decision-making process involves evaluating moving space โ examining structural complexity โ considering chair value โ weighing time. If two of the first three items require careful protection, disassembly is recommended.
3. Packaging Operation Process
- Cleaning and Disassembly: Before moving, wipe the chair with a cloth, including armrests, backrests, and other parts; for disassemblable chairs, disassemble in the order of 'from outside to inside, from top to bottom, reverse assembly', and wrap components with stretch wrap to prevent scratches.
- Multi-layer Protection: Wrap the chair surface with bubble wrap horizontally for two circles and vertically to cushion pressure; if the original packaging is intact, place it directly in the original carton; otherwise, cut cardboard to make outer packaging and protect edges with hard corner protectors; for valuable chairs such as rosewood or solid wood, make a frame-type wooden box and fill it with foam or clothing to reduce gaps.
- Labeling and Reminders: Affix labels to the packaging indicating 'Fragile' or 'Valuable' to remind movers to handle with care.
4. Packaging Size Specifications
There is no unified national standard for office chair packaging. The packaging box sizes of mainstream e-commerce models mostly range from 80-120cmร60-80cmร20-40cm. Mainstream office chairs on the market adopt foldable or split packaging: the packaging box of basic swivel chairs is similar in size to a double-door refrigerator, with conventional dimensions of approximately 110cmร70cmร30cm; gaming chairs have increased packaging thickness by 10-15cm due to accessories such as headrests and lumbar supports; high-end executive chairs commonly have a size of 120cmร80cmร40cm due to thicker seat cushions.
5. Relevant Standard References
QB/T 2280-2016 'Office Furniture - Office Chairs' specifies the terms, classifications, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and markings, packaging, transportation, and storage of office chairs. It is applicable to chairs used for indoor work, and chairs for similar purposes in other settings can be referenced accordingly.
