Office Chair Packaging Requirements

Admin October 22, 2026

Office chair packaging requirements mainly include packaging materials, packaging methods, and other packaging-related requirements, as detailed below:

Packaging Material Requirements

  • Pearl Cotton: All painted surfaces must be wrapped with pearl cotton that is at least 2mm thick to protect the chair's painted surface from scratches.
  • Foam: Foam corner protectors must have a density of at least 23kg/mยณ, foam edge protectors must have a density of at least 18kg/mยณ, and other foam materials must have a density of at least 15kg/mยณ. Corner protectors must be composed of foam corner protectors adhered with cardboard corner protectors using tape to ensure that the chair's edges and corners are not damaged during transportation.
  • Desiccant: A sufficient amount of desiccant must be fixed between the inner packaging and the outer box. Generally, no less than 200g of desiccant is required per 1mยณ of packaging to prevent the chair from getting damp.
  • Cardboard Box: The product is packaged in cardboard boxes with double-wall corrugated cardboard that has a burst strength of at least 275psi (pounds per square inch) to ensure the sturdiness of the boxes.
  • Instruction Manual: The instruction manual must be placed in a red plastic bag for easy identification and protection.

Packaging Methods

  • Two Chairs per Box: The chairs are wrapped with pearl cotton that is at least 2mm thick, and the backrests are protected with single-wall corrugated cardboard boxes. Flat foam of different thicknesses is placed according to the height difference between the chair's backrest and seat plate, ensuring that the height of the feet is greater than that of the backrest after placement. Foam corner protectors with cardboard are placed on both the feet and the backrest, secured with stretch wrap, and 12mm packaging plywood is placed on the top and bottom surfaces.
  • One Chair per Box: The chair is wrapped with pearl cotton that is at least 2mm thick, and the backrest is protected with single-wall corrugated cardboard boxes. Flat foam or corner protectors are placed behind the backrest, and an empty box is placed on the seat plate, with the height of the empty box exceeding that of the backrest. The chair's feet with wheels must be secured with foam to prevent rotation, and flat foam must be placed on the sides. 12mm packaging plywood is placed on the bottom plate.

Other Packaging-Related Requirements

  • Packaging Dimensions: There is no unified national standard for office chair packaging dimensions. The length, width, and height of packaging boxes for mainstream e-commerce models mostly fall within the range of 80 - 120cm ร— 60 - 80cm ร— 20 - 40cm. Packaging dimensions vary for different types of office chairs. For example, gaming chairs, which include headrests, lumbar supports, and other accessories, have packaging that is 10 - 15cm thicker; high-end executive chairs, which have thicker seat cushions, commonly have packaging dimensions of 120cm ร— 80cm ร— 40cm.
  • Shock-Resistant Packaging: Priority should be given to shock-resistant packaging that combines honeycomb cardboard and pearl cotton. This design not only reduces volume but also prevents damage to the chair's leg electroplated parts.
  • Original Packaging Handling: If the original packaging is intact, simply place the packaged chair into the original cardboard box. If the original packaging has been lost, it is recommended to cut hard cardboard to make an outer packaging, and do not forget to protect the edges and corners with hard corner protectors. For the transportation of more valuable chairs such as those made of rosewood or solid wood, a frame-style wooden box can be made according to the size of the chair. The interior of the wooden box should be filled with foam or unused clothes to minimize the gaps between the chair and the walls of the wooden or cardboard box.
