Office Chair Packaging Process

Admin October 19, 2026

The office chair packaging process is as follows:

I. Preliminary Preparations

  1. Protective and Packaging Materials:
    • Bubble wrap: Used to wrap the chair body, backrest, legs, and other components, providing cushioning and shock protection.
    • Stretch wrap/stretch film: Wrapped around the outer layer of the bubble wrap for fixation, preventing dust and dirt.
    • Packing paper/old newspapers: Used to wrap components that are prone to scratching the paint or require protection from dirt.
    • Cardboard boxes: Recommended sizes are 60x40x50cm or 50x40x40cm, used to hold disassembled parts.
    • Dust covers/disposable tablecloths: Placed inside the cardboard boxes for dust and water resistance.
  2. Fixing and Storage Tools:
    • Wide tape: Used to seal cardboard boxes and fix the edges of packaging materials.
    • Parts bags/sealed plastic bags: Used to store disassembled screws, washers, and other small parts.
    • Markers and label stickers: Used to mark packaged components or parts bags.
  3. Auxiliary Tools (if disassembly is required):
    • Rubber mallet: Used to disassemble tight components such as gas cylinders, avoiding direct hammering with a metal hammer to prevent damage to the paint.

II. Determine Whether to Disassemble

  1. Packaging Without Disassembly:
    • The moving passage (such as doorways, elevators, corridors) and the space in the transportation vehicle are sufficiently spacious.
    • The chair has a simple structure or is complex to disassemble, and efficiency is prioritized over ultimate protection.
    • Operation method: Directly use bubble wrap and stretch wrap to wrap the entire chair in multiple layers.
  2. Packaging After Disassembly:
    • The moving space is limited (such as narrow staircases, small elevator cabs, insufficient trunk space in private cars).
    • The chair is of high value or has a precise structure, requiring a reduction in the risk of deformation during transportation.
    • Simple decision-making process: Evaluate the moving space โ†’ examine the complexity of the chair's structure โ†’ consider the chair's value โ†’ weigh the available time. If two of the first three items indicate the need for more cautious protection, disassembly is recommended.

III. Packaging Operations

  1. Disassemblable Chairs:
    • First, disassemble the components and wrap them with stretch wrap to prevent scratches.
    • Then, wrap them horizontally with bubble wrap for two circles, followed by vertical wrapping to ensure comprehensive coverage for cushioning pressure.
  2. Non-disassemblable Chairs:
    • Directly wrap them tightly with stretch wrap, and then package them with bubble wrap using the above method.
  3. Outer Packaging Handling:
    • If the original packaging is intact, place it directly into the original cardboard box.
    • If the original packaging is lost, cut cardboard to make outer packaging and protect the edges with hard corner protectors.
    • For valuable chairs (such as rosewood or solid wood), a frame-style wooden box can be made, filled with foam or clothing inside to reduce gaps.

IV. Final Step Attach labels to the packaging indicating 'Fragile' or 'Valuable' to remind movers to handle with care.
