Office Chair Overturned

Admin October 08, 2026

The overturning of an office chair can be caused by various factors such as the chair's own quality, the condition of the floor, and the behavior of the user.

Firstly, the quality issue of the chair itself is one of the important reasons for its overturning. If the chair's structure is unstable, for example, if there are hidden damages or decay in the wooden frame, loose welding of metal materials, or unreasonable design of the chair, such as inconsistent leg lengths or angle deviations, these will make the chair prone to losing balance and tipping over during normal use. The spot-check results from the State Administration for Market Regulation show that the stability of some office chairs is unqualified. When leaning forward, backward, or sitting sideways, the chairs are prone to tipping over, which further confirms the impact of chair quality issues on stability.

Secondly, the condition of the floor is also a key factor affecting the stability of the chair. If the floor is uneven, with pits or bumps, or if the floor is too smooth with insufficient friction, such as a polished wooden floor after waxing or a floor with water stains or oil stains, it will be difficult for the chair to remain stable when placed on such a floor, and it is prone to sliding or shaking, eventually leading to tipping over. Therefore, when choosing a location to place the chair, try to select a flat, dry floor with moderate friction.

Finally, the behavior of the user is also a factor that cannot be ignored in causing the chair to tip over. For example, getting up too hastily without first adjusting the body's center of gravity and standing up abruptly can give the chair a relatively large impact force, causing it to lose balance. In addition, shaking or jumping vigorously on the chair, or frequently changing sitting positions, these behaviors will disrupt the chair's balance state and increase the risk of it tipping over. Therefore, when using the chair, maintain a stable sitting posture and avoid vigorous movements to ensure the stability of the chair.
