Office Chair Operation Steps

Admin October 11, 2026

The operation steps for an office chair are as follows:

1. Adjusting the Chair Height
Locate the control lever beneath the chair. Push it up or down to raise or lower the chair. For pneumatic height-adjustment models, repeatedly pump the lever up and down to adjust the height. Once you reach a comfortable position, release the lever to lock the height adjustment rod in place. Some models may require pulling up a control lever or turning a knob; refer to the user manual for specific instructions. When adjusting, it is recommended to move a few centimeters at a time to avoid rapid adjustments. If adjusting from a standing position, ensure the front of the chair is just below your knees.

2. Adjusting the Seat Angle
The seat angle is typically adjusted using a control lever located at the front of the chair's base. Pushing the lever upward raises the front of the seat, creating a forward tilt; pushing it downward lowers the front, returning it to a level or reclined position. This feature is suitable for scenarios requiring forward-leaning work or relaxed reclining. After adjustment, confirm the stability of the seat.

3. Adjusting the Chair Back

  • Basic Tilt Adjustment: Locate the control lever at the back of the chair's base. Pushing it upward tilts the backrest forward, while pushing it downward tilts it backward. Adjust to a comfortable angle and release the lever to lock the position.
  • Recline Function Adjustment:
    • Lever Adjustment System: The lever, located on the right or left side beneath the seat, can be pulled up or pushed to unlock the recline function. Adjust the angle by leaning back while operating the lever, then pull the lever again to lock the position.
    • Knob Adjustment System: The knob at the center beneath the seat adjusts the recline tension; turning it clockwise increases resistance, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it. Some models have a separate knob for adjusting the recline angle; refer to the manual for instructions.
    • Pneumatic Adjustment System: Shared with the height adjustment lever, this system adjusts the recline angle by pushing in different directions. A slight pull on the lever allows for fine-tuning.

4. Adjusting the Chair Armrests
If the armrests support vertical movement, press the button on the side of the armrest, move it to the desired height, and release the button to lock the position. Some advanced models also allow for forward-backward or left-right adjustments; follow the specific design for operation.

5. Rotating the Chair
The five-star base of the chair usually contains a built-in rotating mechanism. While seated, gently twist the base with both hands to rotate left or right. Maintain balance while rotating to avoid sudden movements that could cause tipping.
