Oil Stain on Office Chair

Admin October 19, 2026

Appropriate measures should be taken for oil stains on office chairs according to different situations, as follows:

Cleaning Oil Stains

  • Warm Water Cleaning Method: First, remove any debris from the chair. Then, use a soft cloth dipped in warm water to wipe it. If the oil stain is severe, add a small amount of neutral detergent to the warm water, dissolve it, and then clean. Finally, wipe it clean with a dry cloth to ensure no water residue remains. Neutral detergents are mild and will not damage the chair material, effectively removing oil stains.
  • Vinegar Cleaning Method: Pour an appropriate amount of vinegar into a spray bottle and spray it on the chair surface. Vinegar has the effect of dissolving oil stains. After the vinegar solution has absorbed the oil stains, gently wipe them away with a damp cloth until the oil stains are completely removed. Finally, wipe the surface with clean water to remove the vinegar smell. This method is suitable for chair materials that are not allergic to vinegar.
  • Paper Towel Oil Absorption Method: First, remove any debris from the chair. Then, use paper towels to gently absorb the oil. You can appropriately increase the thickness of the paper towels to enhance the oil absorption effect. If the oil stain is severe, first wipe it with a damp paper towel and then absorb the oil with a dry paper towel. This method is simple and convenient, quickly removing surface oil stains.

Dealing with Abnormal Noises

Most abnormal noises from office chairs are not caused by "dry friction". Blue can lubricant is only suitable for situations where there is dry friction on the contact surfaces. The primary source of abnormal noises is the gaps that form at fastening points such as screws, the chassis, and the metal rods of the seat cushion due to daily shaking. When force is applied, the metal hits metal, causing a creaking sound. Spraying oil in this case is not only useless but also, since the blue can is a low-viscosity penetrating oil, after the solvent evaporates and the oil film flows away, the gaps and impacts remain, and the abnormal noise will return as scheduled. For this kind of abnormal noise, you can remove the four screws connecting the chassis to the seat cushion, place makeup cotton between the screws, the chassis, and the metal rods of the seat cushion (do not make the holes too large; let the screws thread into the screw holes with part of the cotton), and then tighten the screws.

Refueling Hydraulic Swivel Chairs

  • Preparation Before Refueling: Ensure a safe working environment and avoid open flames and sources of ignition. Prepare tools and materials such as hydraulic oil, a syringe, a rubber tube, and a cleaning cloth. Carefully inspect the lifting rod and hydraulic cylinder of the hydraulic swivel chair to confirm there is no damage or leakage.
  • Refueling Steps: Turn the hydraulic swivel chair upside down with the bottom facing up. Locate the oil filling port on the hydraulic cylinder (usually a small hole or rubber plug) and wipe it clean with a cleaning cloth. Use a syringe to draw an appropriate amount of hydraulic oil of the same or similar model as the original hydraulic oil in the hydraulic cylinder, connect it to the oil filling port through a rubber tube, and slowly inject the hydraulic oil while observing the lifting and lowering of the hydraulic rod. When the hydraulic rod can move up and down smoothly, it indicates that there is enough oil. After refueling is complete, wipe clean the oil stains around the oil filling port with a cleaning cloth and check for any leakage. If there is leakage, deal with it promptly.
  • Precautions: Do not overfill with oil. Keep the refueling process clean to prevent oil stains and impurities from entering the hydraulic cylinder. If you are not familiar with the operation, seek help from professionals or watch relevant video tutorials to learn.
