Office Chair Oil Leakage

Admin October 08, 2026

The handling of oil leakage in office chairs should be carried out according to the leaking components and specific circumstances. Here are the detailed handling methods:

Seat Damping Oil Leakage

  • Accurately locate the oil leakage point and clean the surface: Use a strong flashlight to find the oil leakage location, which is commonly found on the seat adjustment slide rails, damper connections, or hydraulic rod seals. Choose a cleaning method based on the seat material. For leather materials, use a slightly damp cotton cloth dipped in a neutral detergent to wipe. For fabric materials, use a soft-bristled brush dipped in a dry cleaning agent to gently brush, and then use a dry cloth to absorb the moisture.
  • Targeted repair of the leaking components: If the lubricating oil on the slide rails overflow, use absorbent paper to clean up the excess grease and then apply special high-temperature-resistant grease. If the damper seal is aging, disassemble the seat and replace it with a seal of the same specification. If the hydraulic rod is leaking oil, directly replace it with a brand-new hydraulic rod assembly. Keep it vertical during installation to prevent the seal from misaligning.
  • In-depth drying and functional testing: After repair, place the seat in a well-ventilated area to dry for two to three hours to ensure that the metal components have no moisture on their surfaces. Reinstall it and conduct multi-angle adjustment tests to check for any new oil stains.

  • Five-step troubleshooting for oil seepage: Observe the location and degree of oil seepage, check the position of the oil stains and the seepage situation, and take photos for record. Check the lifting function by adjusting the chair height to feel if it is smooth. Clean and let it stand for observation. Wipe off the oil stains on the surface of the pneumatic rod and let it stand for a while before checking again. Investigate external causes by reviewing usage habits and checking for overloading or exposure to severe impacts or tilting. Initially infer the cause by combining the above observations to determine whether it is due to seal aging, improper installation, or rod damage.
  • Three handling path options: During the warranty period, the first choice is the official after-sales service. Contact Deli's official after-sales service, prepare the purchase invoice, describe the oil seepage phenomenon and functional abnormalities, and make an appointment for on-site inspection or replacement. For serious oil seepage and other situations, priority should be given to replacing the pneumatic rod. If the oil seepage is severe, the oil stains spread rapidly, or it is accompanied by lifting jams, abnormal noises, or even complete functional failure, stop using it immediately and replace the pneumatic rod.

Lifting Chair Hydraulic Rod Oil Leakage

Immediately stop using the chair and move it to a location that does not obstruct passage. Simply observe the most obvious part of the oil stains, which is usually concentrated around the piston rod extension end. Distinguish the equipment type. The structure of the office chair lifting rod (gas spring) makes it unrepairable and must be replaced. Purchase a matching new lifting rod for replacement. It is strictly prohibited to drill, saw, heat, or attempt to disassemble the old pneumatic rod. Use appropriate tools such as a large pipe wrench during replacement to ensure stable operation.
