Office Chair Nylon Modification
Admin October 17, 2026
Office chair nylon modification mainly involves two aspects: the selection of core components and the advantages of modification.

Core Components and Selection
- Armrests: The mainstream selections in the industry are PA6 - GF30 and PA66 - GF30 modified plastics, which are suitable for various adjustable armrests and regular armrest frames. However, during mass production, glass-fiber-reinforced nylon materials are prone to issues such as fiber floatation, whitening under pressure, and uneven surfaces. The office chair armrest-specific modified materials developed by Guangdong Weilifang New Materials Co., Ltd. can improve these injection molding defects.
- Seat, Backrest, and Mesh Back Frame: PA6 - GF30, PA66 + 30, and other modified materials are commonly used. It is crucial to control the anti-creep and fatigue-resistance properties. If the material performance does not meet the standards, it can lead to problems such as frame deformation, collapse, and looseness.
- Five-Star Base: There are various materials for office chair five-star bases on the market. After being reinforced and modified with fillers such as glass fibers, nylon five-star bases have improved load-bearing capacity, hardness, and wear resistance, and are less prone to rust. However, during the modification process, issues such as poor compatibility between glass fibers and resin may occur, leading to reduced fluidity and glass fiber exposure. The anti-glass-fiber-exposure agent and high-efficiency flow aid from 'Wuhan Hyperbranched' can effectively improve these problems.
Advantages of Modification
- High Strength and Impact Resistance: Through modification with materials such as glass fibers and carbon fibers, the tensile strength of reinforced nylon can reach 80 - 120 MPa, and the flexural strength can exceed 100 MPa, which is more than 30% higher than that of ordinary nylon and even comparable to some metal materials. It can effectively disperse stress and avoid fracture or deformation.
- Lightweight Characteristics: The density of reinforced nylon is only 1.2 - 1.5 g/cmยณ, much lower than that of steel and aluminum alloys. Using this material for seat frames can achieve a weight reduction of 30% - 50%, reducing the overall weight of the seat, improving the convenience of handling and assembly, reducing the pressure on the ground, and enhancing the mobility of the seat.
- Weather and Corrosion Resistance: It has excellent high- and low-temperature resistance and can work stably in environments ranging from -40ยฐC to 120ยฐC. It is not affected by humidity, sun exposure, or diurnal temperature variations, solving the problems of rusting in metal frames and aging in ordinary plastics, and reducing the later maintenance costs and replacement frequency.
- Molding Flexibility: It can achieve one-piece molding of complex structures through injection molding without cumbersome assembly. It can not only create optimized structures to reduce material waste but also adapt to different seat styles. The surface can be directly dyed or painted, providing designers with a broader creative space.
