Office Chair - Non-movable
If the office chair itself is a non-movable model (such as the W929 hollowed-out computer chair), its non-movability stems from the design where the base of the five-star foot is directly fixed without installing casters. If you need to convert an ordinary office chair into a non-movable one, stability modifications can be achieved through the following methods:

Install fixed chair feet
Directly replace the original five-star foot with casters with fixed chair feet (such as flat rubber or metal foot pads). This completely eliminates the mobility function. This method is applicable to all office chairs with casters. After modification, the contact area between the chair and the ground increases, significantly improving stability. However, it is necessary to ensure that the chair feet are firmly connected to the chair body to avoid tipping due to a shift in the center of gravity.Use wheels with brake functions
Select universal wheels that require manual locking (such as dual-brake wheels). Fixation is achieved by simultaneously operating the brake devices on all five wheels. This solution retains the flexibility of the wheels (movable when unlocked), but users need to develop the habit of locking the brakes before sitting down. Otherwise, sliding may occur due to accidental touching or forgetting to lock the brakes.Adopt gravity self-locking wheels
Utilize sitting pressure to trigger the locking mechanism: when the user sits down, the wheels automatically lock; when getting up, they unlock and restore mobility. These wheels are suitable for scenarios that require intermittent fixation (such as frequently getting up to operate equipment). However, it should be noted that their locking force may be affected by body weight, and those with a very light weight may not be able to trigger the locking.Lay anti-slip carpets or mats
Restrict chair sliding by increasing ground friction, suitable for temporary fixation needs. This method is low-cost and does not require modification of the chair, but it cannot completely eliminate sliding (especially when the carpet is thin or the ground is smooth), and may affect the smoothness of the chair when moving.
Points to note for maintaining the stability of non-movable office chairs:
- If the chair is originally designed as non-movable (such as with fixed chair feet), forcibly installing casters will disrupt the structural balance, causing uneven stress at the connection between the five-star foot and the gas rod, which may lead to a risk of breakage. It is recommended to prioritize the above modification solutions.
- Regularly check whether the connecting screws between the five-star foot and the gas rod are tightened to avoid chair wobbling or tipping due to looseness.
- For gravity self-locking wheels or wheels with brakes, regularly clean the debris in the wheel gaps to ensure the normal operation of the locking mechanism.
