Office Chair Noise Elimination

Admin October 11, 2026

Office chair noise elimination can be achieved through the following methods:

First, identify the source of the abnormal noise. Check if the connecting screws are loose, paying special attention to connection areas such as the backrest, armrests, chassis, and chair legs. Determine whether the sound is coming from beneath the seat cushion, near the chair legs, or other specific components by listening carefully. Pay attention to the contact surface between the chair legs and the floor; hard chair legs directly touching tiles or wooden floors can easily generate high-frequency noise.

If loose screws are found, tighten the screws and repair worn holes. Use an appropriate screwdriver or wrench to tighten the loose screws. If the screw holes are worn, dip a toothpick or thin wooden stick in white glue and insert it into the screw hole. After the glue dries, tighten the screws again. For old-fashioned wooden chairs with mortise-and-tenon joints, clean off the old glue, apply white glue, and knock the tenon back into place and secure it.

Perform lubrication treatment on metal components such as rotating shafts, lifting rods, and slide rails. For the rotating shaft of the chair chassis with a rocking function and the lifting rod of the lifting and rotating seat, apply an appropriate amount of lubricating oil and repeatedly lift or recline the chair several times. For the slide rails of office chairs or car seats, first use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris, then spray with a penetrating lubricant such as WD-40, and slide the seat back and forth to evenly distribute the lubricant. You can also apply a small amount of cooking oil or professional lubricating oil to the noisy parts of the chair, such as the rotating shafts and slide rails, ensuring even application and avoiding excess.

Inspect and replace components. Check the material of the wheels; hard plastic wheels can easily slip and generate noise on tiled floors and can be replaced with soft PU wheels or silent rubber wheels. Check if the gas lift rod is short of oil; drop 3-5 drops of mechanical lubricating oil at the connection of the gas lift rod and lift it up and down several times to allow the oil to penetrate. If the gas lift rod is internally damaged, contact after-sales service for replacement. Clean foreign objects from the wheels; if hair or debris is stuck in the wheels, remove it with tweezers or clean it with a toothbrush.

If the chair structure allows, adjust the chair structure, such as adjusting the angle and tightness between the backrest and the seat cushion, to reduce noise caused by friction or looseness.

In addition, regular maintenance is also important. Regularly clean and maintain the chair to prevent dust and debris from entering the interior and causing wear or abnormal noise. If the chair has been used for a long time or shows significant wear, replacing the chair is the most direct and effective method.
