Office Chair No Noise

Admin October 16, 2026

To prevent an office chair from making noise, methods such as lubrication, tightening screws, replacing parts, or choosing products with silent designs can be used.

Lubrication is a direct way to eliminate abnormal noises. If the noise comes from component friction, you can first try the carrot juice lubrication method: Cut the carrot into small pieces, press them into a paste, and apply it to the wobbly or friction-prone parts of the chair. Use its natural lubricity to reduce friction and noise. If the effect is not satisfactory, you can switch to liquid lubricants such as WD-40 or 3-in-1. Spray them on the wobbly parts to form a thin lubricating film, but be careful to avoid excessive spraying that may leave oil stains. For noises generated by the recline function, silicone oil or special lubricants are more suitable: Spray a small amount of lubricant on the friction area, wait for 1-2 minutes for it to penetrate, which can effectively reduce the friction sound between metal components.

Tightening screws is a basic method to solve noise caused by looseness. Use a wrench or screwdriver to check the screws on all parts of the chair, especially the rotating shafts, joints, and bottom support structures. Tighten any loose screws immediately. If the screws have stripped threads (thread wear) due to long-term use, replace them with new screws of the same specification to avoid continuous friction caused by poor fixation.

Replacing worn parts can completely solve structural abnormal noises. If parts such as chair wheels, brackets, cushions, springs, or limit blocks show cracks, deformation, or aging, they need to be replaced accordingly. For example, if a chair with a pneumatic rod for recline makes noise due to friction between the pneumatic rod and the housing, you can remove the burrs by polishing the contact surface or insert anti-slip rubber pads into the gaps to reduce friction.

Choosing products with silent designs can prevent noise from the source. Conference room silent chairs significantly reduce normal-use noise through reinforced connectors, the use of wear-resistant silent pads, and the adoption of buffer structures. If you need to move the chair frequently, a silent-wheel office chair is a better choice: Its PU-wrapped wheels make almost no sound when moving on wooden floors and tiles, and their wear resistance is better than that of ordinary plastic wheels.

In practice, it is recommended to first troubleshoot simple problems through lubrication and tightening screws. If the abnormal noise still exists, check the wear of the parts or consider replacing the product. Regular maintenance (such as checking the screws and lubricating the rotating shafts every 3-6 months) can extend the service life of the chair and reduce noise.
