Office Chair No Height Adjustment
There may be multiple reasons why an office chair cannot be adjusted in height, and targeted troubleshooting can resolve the issue.

Gas Cylinder Failure
The gas cylinder is the core component for height adjustment. If the internal gas system is damaged (such as nitrogen leakage) or the connection with the base wears out and leaks air, height adjustment will be impossible. You can try replacing the gas cylinder or the connecting parts, which cost about $3-$5 (approximate price, may vary based on region and brand), and can be easily installed yourself after purchasing online without removing screws. If the gas cylinder loses pressure (due to aging of the seal ring), a new gas cylinder is also required.Mechanical Linkage Displacement or Gas Valve Pin Failure
Displacement of the operating handle can cause the control handle to detach from the gas valve pin, preventing the switch from being triggered. You can invert the chair and check if the end of the handle can touch the small metal dot (pin) at the top of the gas cylinder. If misaligned, use a wrench to adjust the position of the base fixing screws; if the handle cannot touch the pin even when pressed all the way down, you can attach a hard spacer such as a coin or plastic sheet above the pin to compensate for the worn gap.Mechanical Interference
Excessive grease or dust accumulated in the base may hinder the rebound of the pin. You can spray a small amount of WD-40 or sewing machine oil into the gap of the pin and press the handle repeatedly several times until the pin can rebound smoothly.Aging of the Height Adjustment Mechanism
Components such as the hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic piping, or regulating valve may become aged and damaged after long-term use, requiring replacement of the hydraulic cylinder or the entire height adjustment mechanism, and checking if the hydraulic system is functioning properly.Damaged Adjustment Button
The button may become damaged after long-term use, preventing normal height adjustment. You need to replace the button or rewire it for repair.Improper Installation or Accessory Issues
If the gas rod is not installed or fixed correctly, or the plastic protective cover at the top of the gas rod is not removed, height adjustment will fail. You need to reinstall the gas rod or remove the plastic cover. In addition, failures of accessories such as the base or butterfly plate may also affect the height adjustment function and require inspection and replacement.
If none of the above methods work, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer's after-sales service or professional repair service to avoid further damage caused by self-disassembly.
