National Standards for Office Chairs
The current national standards related to office chairs in China mainly include QB/T 2280 - 2016, GB/T 14531 - 2017, and the GB/T 10357 series standards.

QB/T 2280 - 2016 'Office Furniture - Office Chairs': This standard was formulated by the China National Light Industry Council and officially implemented in 2016. It serves as a fundamental and general standard for office chairs. It provides detailed classifications of office chairs and clearly specifies key aspects such as technical requirements and test methods. Among them, the indicator that the adjustable range of the seat height should be no less than 60mm is particularly crucial. It directly relates to whether the office chair can meet the usage needs of users of different heights, providing them with a comfortable sitting experience. Additionally, this standard covers safety requirements to ensure that office chairs do not cause harm to users during use, safeguarding their personal safety.
GB/T 14531 - 2017 'Office Furniture - Reading Tables, Chairs, and Stools': This standard is mainly applicable to furniture used in specific places such as libraries and archives. It not only stipulates quality requirements and test methods but also clearly defines packaging and storage requirements. Notably, this standard has introduced new test methods such as impact resistance and scratch resistance. Through these rigorous tests, the durability and damage resistance of office chairs can be effectively evaluated, ensuring their long-term and stable use in specific places. Currently, the revision of this standard is planned to start in March 2025, and it will go through a series of procedures to be continuously improved and updated.
GB/T 10357 series standards: This series of standards mainly involves mechanical property tests for furniture. Among them, GB/T 10357.2 - 2013 'Mechanical Property Tests for Furniture - Part 2: Stability of Chairs and Stools' focuses on stability tests for chairs and stools. By simulating various usage scenarios and stress conditions, it checks whether office chairs are prone to tipping over during normal use, ensuring user safety. GB/T 10357.3 - 2025 'Mechanical Property Tests for Furniture - Part 3: Strength and Durability of Chairs and Stools' emphasizes strength and durability tests for chairs and stools, ensuring that office chairs can withstand a certain amount of pressure and frequent use, thereby extending their service life.
