National Certification for Office Chairs

Admin October 09, 2026

Office chairs sold through formal domestic channels in China must comply with the recommended standards QB/T 1952-2023 'Office Chairs' and QB/T 2280-2016 (some content has been updated and replaced by subsequent standards). Core certification indicators cover load-bearing capacity, durability, and environmental protection requirements. When purchasing, verification can be done through steel stamps and test reports, and caution should be exercised against counterfeit international certification logos.

I. Core Certification Standards and Indicators

  1. Basic Standards:

    • QB/T 1952-2023 'Office Chairs': The current primary recommended standard that regulates the design, materials, performance, and other requirements of office chairs.
    • QB/T 2280-2016: Some content has been replaced by QB/T 1952-2023, but the requirement for Type I backrests to withstand 100,000 cycles of adjustment without damage remains in use.
  2. Durability Tests:

    • Elevation and Rotation Test: Office chairs must pass 50,000 cycles of fault-free testing to ensure long-term stability.
    • Backrest Adjustment Test: Type I backrests must complete 100,000 cycles of adjustment (such as tilting and locking functions) without damage.
  3. Environmental Protection Requirements:

    • Antibacterial Function: If a product claims to be antibacterial, its fabric must pass tests according to JIS L 1902 (Japanese Industrial Standard) or GB 21551.2 (Chinese Antibacterial Standard).
    • Formaldehyde Emission: Children's study chairs must comply with the GB 28007-2019 standard, with formaldehyde emissions โ‰ค 0.1mg/mยณ.

II. Certification Information Verification Methods

  1. Steel Stamp Identification:
    • The bottom or bottom label of the product must have a steel stamp with the GB/T or QB/T designation, indicating compliance with national standards.
  2. Test Reports:
    • Request that the merchant provide a screenshot of a CMA-certified test report to confirm that test items (such as load-bearing capacity and formaldehyde) comply with the standards.
  3. International Certification Verification:
    • Be cautious of merchants counterfeiting international certification logos such as GREENGUARD and ANSI BIFMA. Verify authenticity through official inquiry links.

III. Purchase Considerations

  1. Prioritize Formal Channels: Avoid purchasing unbranded, unlabeled 'three-no' products to reduce quality risks.
  2. Focus on Core Indicators: Depending on the usage scenario (such as for children or prolonged office use), pay special attention to checking environmental protection and durability indicators.
  3. Retain Documentation: Keep purchase invoices, test reports, etc., for after-sales rights protection.
