Office Chair Multi-Adjustment

Admin October 09, 2026

The multi-adjustment functions of an office chair mainly include seat height, sitting posture angle, armrest height, and headrest adjustment, as detailed below:

Seat height adjustment is one of the most fundamental and important functions of an office chair. The correct seat height ensures that both feet are flat on the ground, with the angle between the thighs and calves maintained between 95 and 100 degrees, preventing leg suspension or excessive bending that can impede blood circulation. To adjust, locate the hand control device beneath the seat and raise the lever or turn the knob to change the height; alternatively, adjust from a standing position by positioning the front of the chair just below the knees, then sit down with feet naturally flat on the ground.

Sitting posture angle adjustment directly affects spinal health. Maintaining an upright sitting posture for extended periods can easily fatigue the waist muscles, while slightly reclining between 100 and 110 degrees allows the back, especially the waist, to fit snugly against the chair back, distributing pressure. If the chair is equipped with a lumbar support, adjust it to support the natural curve of the lumbar spine, avoiding a suspended waist. Some high-end office chairs also support forward tilt adjustment of the seat cushion, reducing abdominal pressure during prolonged desk work.

Armrest height adjustment should match the height of the desk. Ideally, when the elbows are naturally hanging down, the forearms should be able to rest easily on the armrests or desk, with the angle between the upper and lower arms close to 100 degrees. If the armrests are too high, the shoulders will hunch up; if too low, the arms may hang, increasing neck strain. If the armrests obstruct the knees from sliding under the desk, lower their height or choose a design with removable armrests.

Headrest adjustment primarily targets neck support. Headrest designs vary significantly across models. For example, the headrest of the Yongyi 550T can be finely adjusted up and down via a concealed track, while the headrest of the Qingxian Dynamic Ergonomic Chair supports height adjustment by lifting and can be moved forward and backward to fit different head shapes. When adjusting, ensure that the headrest supports the connection between the back of the head and the cervical spine when leaning back, preventing neck suspension and fatigue.

By reasonably adjusting the various functions of an office chair, sitting comfort can be significantly improved, reducing health risks associated with prolonged sitting. When adjusting, it is recommended to consider personal height, body shape, and usage scenarios, gradually experimenting to find the optimal state.
