Office Chair Mold Technology

Admin October 12, 2026

Office chair mold technology encompasses multiple aspects, including mold manufacturing, base molds, impermeable processes, and references to stool and chair mold technology.

Mold Manufacturing and Injection Molding

Mold manufacturing is the foundational step in office chair mold technology, requiring the use of CNC spark machines, milling machines, lathes, and other equipment to produce the molds. Well-known brand injection molding machines, with specifications ranging from 90T to 800T, can achieve highly precise plastic molding in a single shot. Additionally, the use of automated robotic arms for product retrieval enhances production efficiency and product quality.

Office Chair Base Molds

Office chair base molds are used to produce five- or six-claw structured bases primarily made of nylon PA66 reinforced with glass fibers. During the molding process, high-temperature molten plastic material is precisely injected into a pre-set cavity and cools and solidifies within 8 to 12 seconds, forming a structure with a central shaft hole, claw arms, and reinforcing ribs. As the load-bearing hub, the base must withstand static pressures of 100 to 150 kg and meet requirements for smooth rotation, quiet operation, wear resistance, and long-term shape retention. In terms of design precision, Hongmei Mould controls 'dual precision,' with a design tolerance of ยฑ0.01mm and manufacturing precision reaching the micrometer level, ensuring a mold lifespan exceeding 1.2 million cycles. For structural design, a 'Finite Element Analysis (FEA) + dynamic simulation testing' dual-track approach is adopted, such as optimizing the angle between claw arms and adding 'wave-shaped reinforcing ribs' to enhance load-bearing capacity.

Impermeable Process

The impermeable process employs the FIFS technique, where textiles are layered with an impermeable film lining and placed into a mold. The bottom mold is evacuated, and the entire system is filled with soft polyurethane foam material, primarily used for producing automotive seats and office chairs.

Stool and Chair Mold Technology References

Stool and chair mold technology provides valuable references for office chair mold technology. In reverse engineering, the mold technology requirements are traced back from finished stools and chairs, such as defining the mold cavity shape based on the appearance and functional characteristics of plastic dining chair components. For material selection, mold core materials include P20, 718, S136, etc., chosen based on production volume and component materials, followed by heat treatment processes to enhance performance. In terms of precision generation, modern stool and chair mold manufacturing has entered a fully digital process chain stage, using 3D digital models as the data source throughout design, machining, and inspection, with high-precision CNC machining and coordinate measurement as core processes.
