Moisture-Proof Methods for Office Chairs

Admin October 09, 2026

Moisture-proof measures for office chairs should be taken according to their materials, as detailed below:

Leather office chairs: Daily dust removal is essential, followed by the application of appropriate maintenance oils such as mink oil or leather oil. These oils not only soften the leather and maintain its luster but also effectively prevent moisture and mildew. If mildew spots appear on leather office chairs, use a specialized mildew remover for cleaning to prevent further spread and damage to the leather quality.

Solid wood office chairs: Try to place them in an environment with a relative humidity of 35% to 45%. When the ambient humidity is high, use an air conditioner or dehumidifier to remove moisture and reduce air humidity. Additionally, apply a specialized protective wax to solid wood office chairs. The wax forms a protective film on the surface, preventing moisture and maintaining the luster of the solid wood.

Panel office chairs: Pay special attention to keeping the joints clean daily, as dust and impurities can absorb moisture and expand, leading to chair cracking. If panel office chairs get damp, promptly place dehumidifying boxes or dehumidifying agents to absorb moisture and prevent further erosion.

Fabric office chairs: If they are detachable, wash them frequently to keep them dry and clean. You can also cover fabric office chairs with sofa covers made of absorbent materials and change them regularly to effectively prevent moisture from penetrating into the chair's interior.

Steel/iron office chairs: Prolonged exposure to humid environments can cause rusting and fading. During rainy seasons, it's best to wipe them clean with a dry cloth and promptly dry any condensation on the surface. If rusting occurs, use a dishcloth dipped in rust remover to clean the rusted areas and then polish them with a dry cloth to restore their appearance.

Glass office chairs: Regularly wipe them with a dry cloth to keep them clear and transparent. If the glass office chair has a metal frame, perform rust-proof treatment on the metal parts to prevent rusting, which can affect the overall aesthetics and lifespan.
