Office Chair Mobility

Admin October 08, 2026

Office chair mobility primarily involves caster testing, testing methods, testing equipment, and the design features of specific types of office chairs.

Caster Testing: As components of office chairs that undergo frequent motion and bear weight, casters are prone to issues such as wear, cracking, and bearing seizure after prolonged and frequent use. To evaluate the performance of casters under simulated long-term use conditions, continuous walking durability tests are conducted. Observation indicators include the integrity of the caster's rolling function, i.e., whether the caster can roll normally; the degree of wear and deformation of the wheels, checking for visible wear or shape changes on the wheel surface; the looseness, deformation, or breakage of the wheel axles or frames, inspecting whether the axles and frames are secure; changes in rotational flexibility, assessing whether the casters rotate smoothly; and the presence of abnormal noise or detached parts during testing. These indicators comprehensively reflect the performance status of the casters.

Testing Methods: The office chair equipped with the casters to be tested is placed on a dedicated testing platform, and a rated load specified by the standard is applied, simulating the weight borne by the office chair during actual use. The testing platform is then driven to make the casters continuously cycle and walk at a specified speed on a simulated floor. The total test cycle must meet standard requirements, such as tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of cycles, simulating the long-term use of office chair casters through prolonged cyclic testing.

Testing Equipment: The caster continuous walking tester is the core equipment, featuring an adjustable-speed drive system that can adjust the walking speed of the casters according to testing needs; a standard testing surface that simulates a real floor environment; and an adjustable loading device that can precisely apply the rated load. Additionally, it is equipped with auxiliary equipment such as loading weights, measuring tools, timers/cycle counters. Loading weights are used to precisely control the load, measuring tools are used to measure various parameters of the casters, and timers/cycle counters are used to record the testing time and number of cycles.

Specific Types of Office Chairs: Taking the walking chair (Moroso G097 / K1176) as an example, it features a chair body molded in one piece from imported fiberglass-reinforced plastic, with an upholstery of imported velvet or leather, and an internally molded fiberglass-reinforced plastic structure in one piece. Its seat and backrest are carefully designed to form an integrated unit, allowing the chair to rotate 360 degrees. It has a unique appearance, a simple structure, and is both modern, stylish, and durable.
