Office Chair Middle Fixation

Admin October 09, 2026

The method for fixing an office chair in the middle should be selected based on the degree of wobbling and the type of chair. Here are some common methods:

Fixing Methods for Slight Wobbling

If the office chair only has a slight wobble, priority can be given to filling gaps or reinforcing the structure.

  • Wooden Chairs: Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screws at the connection points. Insert a small piece of cardboard or a wooden wedge into the gap, fill the gap, and then retighten the screws. This method reduces wobbling by increasing the friction of the contact surface and is suitable for gap issues caused by loose screws.
  • Mortise-and-Tenon Joint Chairs: If the wobbling is more pronounced, drip a small amount of wood glue into the gap. Align the mortise and tenon and then clamp them tightly with a heavy object. Let it sit for 1 day until the glue is completely dry. Wood glue can fill the tiny gaps between the mortise and tenon, enhancing structural stability. However, be mindful of the amount of glue used to avoid overflow affecting the appearance.

Fixing Methods for Moderate Wobbling

When the wobbling amplitude is larger, it is necessary to fix the chair by distributing the force or strengthening the connection points.

  • Reinforcing the Five-Star Base Connection: Tighten the screws at the connection between the five-star base and the chair seat to ensure that all screws are securely fastened. If the screws are aged or stripped, replace them with new ones.
  • Adding Rubber Pads to the Base: Place a rubber pad about 2 cm thick between the bottom of the chair seat and the ground. The rubber pad can distribute the concentrated force generated by sitting pressure, reducing wobbling caused by uneven ground or worn chair feet, and also serving as an anti-slip measure.

Fixing Methods for Specific Types of Office Chairs

Some office chairs (such as gaming chairs and modern office chairs) come with matching fixing accessories and can be fixed using dedicated methods.

  • Base Clip Fixing Method: These chairs usually come with plastic bases. Simply clip the base onto the bottom of the chair and then press the base onto the ground. The tension of the clip can firmly fix the chair without the need for drilling or damaging the ground, and the appearance remains clean after disassembly. This method is suitable for smooth floors (such as tiles and wooden floors), but ensure that the clip matches the chair model.

Precautions: Before operating, determine the specific cause of the chair's wobbling (such as loose screws, structural wear, or uneven ground) and select the appropriate method accordingly. If the chair is severely aged or structurally damaged, it is recommended to contact a professional for repair or replace it with a new one.
