Office Chair Metal Base

Admin October 08, 2026

The "office chair metal base" typically refers to the metal five-star base or metal chair leg part of an office chair, which is a key component for supporting the chair structure, connecting the wheels, and ensuring stability.

1. Material and Structural Features

The "metal base" (metal chair leg) of an office chair is often made of metal materials such as cold-rolled steel, aluminum alloy, or stainless steel. Among them, cold-rolled steel is widely used due to its high strength and low cost; aluminum alloy is advantageous for its lightweight and corrosion resistance, commonly found in high-end products; stainless steel is mostly used in special environments that require rust prevention. Structurally, the metal chair leg is usually designed in a five-star shape (five-claw type). This shape evenly distributes the body weight, enhancing stability, and facilitates the installation of universal wheels for flexible movement. Some chair legs also undergo thickening treatment at key parts (such as the central axis connection) or adopt one-piece molding processes to enhance load-bearing capacity and durability.

2. Functions and Roles

The core function of the metal chair leg is support and stability. It connects to the chair body through a central axis, transferring the body weight to the ground while expanding the support area through the five-claw structure to prevent the chair from tipping over. Additionally, the metal chair leg is often equipped with universal wheels (such as PU silent wheels, nylon wheels), enabling the chair to slide freely in 360 degrees to meet the needs of frequent movement in office scenarios. Some designs also add anti-slip pads or adjustable foot pads at the bottom of the chair leg to adapt to different floors (such as carpets, tiles) or adjust the chair height, enhancing user comfort.

3. Purchase and Maintenance Recommendations

When purchasing, pay attention to the material thickness of the chair leg (recommended โ‰ฅ2mm) and its load-bearing capacity (ordinary office chairs need โ‰ฅ100kg) to avoid deformation or breakage due to overly thin materials. During daily maintenance, regularly check if the wheels are stuck, if there is rust or cracks on the chair leg, and replace damaged parts promptly. If the surface of the chair leg is painted, avoid scratching it with hard objects to prevent the paint layer from peeling off and causing rust; stainless steel chair legs should be wiped regularly to keep the surface clean and prevent water stains from remaining.
