Office Chair Mesh Repair
The repair of the mesh on an office chair should be selected based on the degree of sagging and the extent of damage:

Mild Sagging (sagging < 1cm, only locally loose) If the mesh is only locally loose and the sagging depth is less than 1 centimeter, you can first try to adjust it yourself. Locate the mesh-fixing straps beneath the seat cushion. Tighten the screws at the strap connections and re-cross and tighten the straps to enhance overall tension. Adding metal nails or plastic fasteners at the strap nodes can further enhance stability. If you need to temporarily improve support, you can add a thin, high-density foam pad to the sagging area, usually costing no more than 50 yuan. This method is suitable when the mesh's elasticity has not been completely lost, but regular checks are needed to ensure the straps do not loosen again.
Moderate Sagging (sagging 1-2cm, overall loose mesh without damage) When the mesh sags to a depth of 1-2 centimeters and is overall loose, handle it according to the warranty situation. If the chair is still under warranty, contact the brand's after-sales service first to request a free mesh replacement or adjustment. If the warranty has expired, you can purchase a replacement mesh of the same size yourself. The cost of ordinary dragon-patterned mesh is about 100-200 yuan, while U-mesh, being more durable, costs about 200-300 yuan. Those with strong hands-on skills can disassemble the old mesh and install the new one according to the original frame structure. If you are unfamiliar with the operation, it is recommended to choose a third-party furniture repair service for on-site replacement to avoid secondary damage caused by improper installation.
Severe Sagging (sagging > 2cm, damaged mesh/loose frame) If the mesh sags more than 2 centimeters or is accompanied by damage or a loose frame, repair is not recommended. Even if the mesh is replaced, the loose frame cannot provide sufficient support, and the probability of subsequent sagging is extremely high. If the chair also has issues such as ineffective lumbar support or damaged adjustment functions, it is more cost-effective to replace it with a new one. Long-term use of a chair with low repair value may affect sitting posture health, so a comprehensive assessment of costs and usage needs is required.
Mesh is loose, off the frame, or damaged If the mesh is only loose at the edges, you can first use strong adhesive (such as hot-melt adhesive) to fix the connection between the mesh and the frame, or use staples to reinforce the edges. If the detachment is severe or the mesh has holes, you need to purchase a new mesh for replacement. For small-scale damage (such as holes with a diameter < 3 centimeters), you can search for DIY tutorials and repair it by sewing on a mesh patch of the same color, but ensure that the tension of the mesh after repair is even to avoid secondary damage caused by uneven local stress.
