Office Chair Mesh Materials

Admin October 09, 2026

Common mesh materials for office chairs include basic materials such as polyester fiber, polyurethane fiber, and polyamide fiber, as well as special types like Teslin mesh, dragon-pattern mesh, and flocked mesh. Based on structure, they can also be divided into single-layer and double-layer meshes. Additionally, there are mainstream materials such as ordinary polyester mesh fabric, high-elasticity nylon mesh fabric, and 3D mesh fabric.

Basic Materials

  • Polyester Fiber: Low cost and strong abrasion resistance, but relatively weak elasticity. Often used in office chairs that are cost-sensitive and have low elasticity requirements, meeting basic usage needs. However, elasticity may decline after long-term use.
  • Polyurethane Fiber: Such as spandex, it offers excellent elasticity and provides dynamic support, suitable for scenarios requiring frequent adjustments in sitting posture. For example, during office work, users may need to constantly change their sitting posture to relieve fatigue, and office chairs with polyurethane fiber mesh can better adapt to this need.
  • Polyamide Fiber: Also known as nylon, it has high strength and good tear resistance, often used in parts requiring high durability. In office environments with high durability requirements for chairs, such as public office areas, office chairs with polyamide fiber mesh can withstand frequent use.

Special Types of Mesh Fabric

  • Teslin Mesh: Woven from a PVC coating and high-strength polyester filaments, it combines elasticity, support, and breathability, making it a mainstream choice for high-end ergonomic chairs. Its smooth surface is stain-resistant, suitable for long-term use, and can maintain the cleanliness and comfort of the chair surface.
  • Dragon-Pattern Mesh: Through a special weaving process, it forms a three-dimensional pattern that increases the contact area with the body, dispersing pressure more evenly while maintaining breathability, suitable for users requiring high comfort. For people who sit in office chairs for long periods, dragon-pattern mesh can effectively reduce body pressure and improve comfort.
  • Flocked Mesh: Short fibers are implanted on the surface of the mesh fabric to enhance softness to the touch, but its breathability is slightly weaker than other types. It is often used in office chairs that prioritize comfort. If users place more emphasis on the feel of the chair, flocked mesh is a good choice.

Other Mainstream Materials

  • Ordinary Polyester Mesh Fabric: Mostly woven from 100% polyester in a single layer, it has a simple process and low cost, commonly found in basic gaming chairs priced under a thousand yuan.
  • High-Elasticity Nylon Mesh Fabric: Usually blends 30%-50% nylon with polyester and may incorporate TPE elastomers or spandex to form a four-way stretch structure, significantly improving rebound and tear resistance.
  • 3D Mesh Fabric: It features a three-dimensional 'sandwich' structure composed of two layers of polyester mesh fabric on the top and bottom with high-strength polyester monofilaments arranged vertically at 90ยฐ in the middle. It is formed in one piece through double-needle-bed warp knitting, offering good support and breathability.
