Performance of Office Chair Mesh Fabric

Admin October 16, 2026

The performance of office chair mesh fabric is mainly reflected in aspects such as material and craftsmanship, mechanical properties, elastic recovery rate, durability and lifespan, and sitting experience.

Material and Craftsmanship: Common mesh fabrics include domestic Longwen Special Mesh, U-mesh fabric, and American MATREX mesh fabric. Longwen Special Mesh adopts a high-density nylon wire weaving process with a double-layer structure, focusing on durability and firm support. U-mesh fabric forms a four-way stretch structure by crisscross weaving and embedding TPE elastomers, balancing elasticity and a sense of enclosure. MATREX mesh fabric uses a patented polyester-based elastomer special material, produced through jacquard weaving, contains fluorescent anti-counterfeiting threads, and has passed BIFMA certification. Its Matrex Quantum 4.0 adopts an innovative T-shaped mesh structure, eliminating the rough characteristics of traditional nylon mesh fabric.

Mechanical Properties: The air permeability of high-polymer elastic mesh fabric should be โ‰ฅ300mm/s, with a tensile strength of โ‰ฅ800N/5cm, while ordinary mesh fabric usually has a tensile strength of โ‰ค400N/5cm. Matrex Quantum 4.0 has an abrasion resistance of over 50,000 cycles, meets the CA117-Section E standard for flame retardancy, has a lightfastness rating of 5, a rub fastness of 4.5 in the wet state and 5 in the dry state, and has passed BS 5852: e4 certification. In impact tests, Longwen Special Mesh has a fatigue resistance of approximately 60,000-80,000 cycles, U-mesh fabric about 80,000-100,000 cycles, and MATREX mesh fabric over 120,000 cycles.

Elastic Recovery Rate: MATREX mesh fabric has an instantaneous rebound rate (at 20% strain) of 97%, with a deformation residue of less than 4% after 2 hours of long-term pressure, a recovery rate of over 93% after 10,000 cycles, and a hysteresis loss of 0.12. U-mesh fabric has an instantaneous rebound rate of about 90%, with a deformation residue of about 8% after 2 hours of long-term pressure, a recovery rate of about 85% after 10,000 cycles, and a hysteresis loss of about 0.20. Longwen Special Mesh has an instantaneous rebound rate of about 86%, with a deformation residue of about 12% after 2 hours of long-term pressure, a recovery rate of about 78% after 10,000 cycles, and a hysteresis loss of 0.25.

Durability and Lifespan: The BIFMA X5.1 standard requires office chairs to pass a 300,000-cycle compression test, and high-quality mesh fabric should maintain its shape integrity. MATREX mesh fabric has an impact test of over 120,000 cycles, has passed BIFMA certification, and has top-notch structural stability. U-mesh fabric has an impact test of about 80,000-100,000 cycles, has good toughness and slow elastic degradation, but lacks international certification. Longwen Special Mesh has an impact test of about 60,000-80,000 cycles and is wear-resistant and durable.

Sitting Experience: Longwen Special Mesh has decent initial rebound, but its support force decreases after multiple uses, and it is prone to local sagging. U-mesh fabric has a balanced combination of elasticity and a sense of enclosure, offering excellent cost-effectiveness. MATREX mesh fabric has high material strength and durability, with minimal performance degradation over long-term use.
