Office Chair Material Table
Office chair materials mainly include four categories: frame and support structure materials, seat and backrest surface materials, other component materials, and emerging materials. Their specific characteristics are as follows:

Frame and support structure materials are the foundation of office chairs, directly affecting their durability and stability. Wood (such as solid wood or wood panels) is natural and eco-friendly, suitable for creating a warm office atmosphere, but it has a high cost and is susceptible to environmental humidity. Metal (such as steel and aluminum alloys) is sturdy and durable, with aluminum alloys being particularly favored for their lightness and high strength, making them suitable for high-intensity use scenarios. Plastic is commonly used in low-cost seats, being lightweight and easy to clean but having limited load-bearing capacity. Aluminum materials (such as aluminum profiles and die-cast aluminum alloys) are used in components like chair tubes, offering advantages such as light weight, rust resistance, and design flexibility, but at a higher cost.
Seat and backrest surface materials directly affect comfort and breathability. Leather is divided into genuine leather (such as top-grain cowhide) and PU leather/synthetic leather. Genuine leather is high-end and wear-resistant but has average breathability, while PU leather has a low cost but a shorter lifespan. Fabric includes polyester fiber or blended fabrics, offering excellent breathability and affordability, but it easily attracts dust. Sub-types include velvet, which feels soft but has poor abrasion resistance, and linen, which is naturally antibacterial but lacks elasticity. Mesh fabric is made of high-elasticity polyurethane material, providing strong support and a breathability rate exceeding 5 mg/cmยฒยทh, making it suitable for long periods of sitting, although it can feel cold in winter. Sponge is used for seat cushion filling, with higher density providing better support, but a balance must be struck with comfort.
Other component materials are crucial for safety and stability. Chair feet come in various materials, with nylon feet being lightweight and economical, while electroplated feet have a higher cost but better quality. Gas lift cylinders should be of reliable quality to avoid explosion risks. The base quality directly affects overall stability, requiring attention to load-bearing design and material strength.
Emerging materials reflect environmental protection and functional innovation. Recycled fiber mesh fabric is made from recycled PET yarn, with 40% lower carbon emissions than traditional materials, aligning with sustainable development concepts. Three-proof fabric with silver ion coating has an antibacterial rate exceeding 99%, suitable for medical and educational scenarios requiring antibacterial properties, but at a higher cost. When choosing materials, it is necessary to consider usage needs, budget, and personal preferences comprehensively. For example, wood should be chosen with caution in humid environments, PU leather or fabric can be considered with a limited budget, and mesh fabric is preferred for breathability.
