Office Chair Material Structure

Admin October 14, 2026

The material structure of an office chair mainly includes components such as the base cushion frame, seat elastic structure, back frame, leather parts, foam cushion, and gas lift rod.

Base Cushion Frame: This is the foundational support structure of an office chair. Workers use hydraulic-powered machines to bend No. 14 steel pipes into shape, creating the frame for the base cushion. Connection treatments are applied at the frame's joints, and steel bars are welded in the middle. These steel bars play a crucial role as they support the mechanism for adjusting the seat position, ensuring the seat can flexibly move forward, backward, left, and right to meet the sitting posture needs of different users.

Seat Elastic Structure: To provide users with a comfortable sitting experience, S-shaped steel springs are hung from the front to the back of the seat frame. These wave-shaped springs work together to form an elastic net within the seat, which can offer corresponding elastic support based on the user's weight and sitting posture. Additionally, rods are placed horizontally and clamped onto the springs. This design adds extra stability and support, making the seat more robust and less prone to deformation.

Back Frame: It consists of the spine, armrest attachments, and other components. The spine part provides support for the user's back. Its shape and design usually conform to ergonomic principles, fitting the natural curve of the human back and reducing back pressure. The armrest attachments offer support for the user's arms, relieving arm fatigue.

Leather Parts: When making leather parts, the leather is first smoothed out and evenly placed on the cutting table. Then, patterns are cut according to cardboard templates, avoiding natural flaws on the leather during the cutting process to ensure the quality of the leather parts. Using parts from the same piece of leather to make the chair gives it a consistent appearance and texture, enhancing its overall aesthetic appeal.

Foam Cushion: Foam cushions are mainly used on the back of the chair. Precise cutting is required according to the chair's shape and size. There are specific requirements for the foam density in the chair. An appropriate foam density can provide good comfort and support, neither being too soft, which would leave the user lacking support, nor too hard, which would make the user uncomfortable.

Gas Lift Rod: It is the core component for adjusting the seat height in an office chair. By utilizing the compressibility of gas, the volume of gas inside the rod can be changed manually or electrically, enabling the seat to rise and fall. This allows users to adjust the seat height according to their own height and usage scenarios.
