Office Chair Material Selection
Admin October 12, 2026
The selection of materials for office chairs requires a comprehensive consideration of both frame materials and upholstery materials, as different materials vary in performance, cost, and applicable scenarios.

Frame Material Selection
- Solid Wood: It features natural textures and an elegant appearance, with strong durability. However, it is relatively expensive and heavy, making it inconvenient to move. It is suitable for fixed office settings or environments that pursue high-end quality.
- Nylon: Lightweight and wear-resistant, with a relatively low price, it is suitable for office scenarios that require frequent movement. PA+Modified Nylon has high toughness, heat resistance, wear resistance, and strong anti-aging properties, making it the preferred choice among nylon materials.
- Aluminum Alloy: Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, it offers the best durability but is the most expensive. It is suitable for scenarios with sufficient budget and high requirements for long-term use stability.
- Steel: Sturdy and durable, with a low price, but the surface electroplated coating is prone to wear, leading to rust. High-quality Q235 Carbon Steel (thickness 20.532.5T1.5mm) has a tensile strength of 490MPa, a yield strength of approximately 235MPa, strong load-bearing capacity, and a high safety factor, making it an excellent choice for steel frames.
- PP (Polypropylene): As a plastic material, it is lightweight and wear-resistant, with a relatively low price and a wide range of color options. It is suitable for scenarios that are sensitive to cost and require lightweight materials.
Upholstery Material Selection
- Genuine Leather: It is high-end, breathable, and highly wear-resistant, but it is very expensive and requires regular maintenance to prevent moisture, fading, or cracking. It is suitable for high-end office environments.
- Artificial Leather: Economical and practical, it is not prone to moisture absorption or fading and is easy to clean. However, it has poor breathability and is prone to static electricity, with a relatively short service life. It is suitable for scenarios with a limited budget and high cleaning requirements.
- Mesh Fabric: It has excellent breathability, providing comfort in summer and being easy to clean. However, it has poor wear resistance, is prone to bacterial growth, and lacks support. DuPont Nylon Elastic Special Mesh has a high weight and high elasticity, can maintain the stability of the chair back shape, and is breathable and sweat-wicking, making it the preferred choice among mesh fabrics.
- Suede Leather: Soft and comfortable, with a delicate feel, it has moderate breathability and wear resistance. However, it requires regular care and is prone to moisture absorption and fading. It is suitable for scenarios that pursue comfort.
- Fabric: It is inexpensive, with a wide variety of patterns, and is easy to clean. However, it has poor compression and wear resistance and is prone to static electricity. It is suitable for temporary or low-frequency use scenarios.
- PU Leather: It is breathable and waterproof, not prone to fading, and easy to clean, with a relatively low price. However, its durability is slightly inferior to that of genuine leather, making it suitable for office environments with a medium budget.
- Leather: It has a strong sense of luxury, is durable and easy to clean, but is relatively expensive. In summer, attention should be paid to cleaning and preventing sweat, making it suitable for high-end business scenarios.
