Office Chair Material Description

Admin October 11, 2026

The materials of office chairs are mainly divided into three categories: seat/backrest materials, frame materials, and materials related to adjustable components, with each type exhibiting distinct performance characteristics.

Seat and Backrest Materials

  1. Mesh Fabric: Primarily composed of polyester fibers blended with nylon fibers, it offers excellent breathability, rapid heat dissipation, and is less prone to causing้—ท็ƒญ (stuffiness) during prolonged sitting; it has moderate elasticity and stable support, requiring only a damp cloth for daily maintenance. However, it is susceptible to snagging and damage from sharp objects, with a moderate weight-bearing capacity, making it suitable for scenarios with high breathability requirements.
  2. High-Density Foam + Fabric Cover: Common fabrics include knitted fabric, suede, or PU leather, providing a strong wrapping sensation, conforming to the body's contours, and offering high comfort; high-density foam is durable and less prone to sagging or deformation during prolonged sitting. However, its breathability is slightly inferior, making it prone to stuffiness in summer, and cleaning requires removing the cover, making it suitable for long-term office scenarios prioritizing comfort.
  3. PU Leather: With a texture close to genuine leather, it is wear-resistant, dirt-resistant, and waterproof, facilitating easy cleaning. However, its breathability is poor, leading to sweating during prolonged sitting in summer; it tends to harden and become brittle in low temperatures and may crack under prolonged exposure to sunlight, making it suitable for scenarios with high cleaning convenience requirements and limited budgets.
  4. Genuine Leather (Top-grain/Split-grain Cowhide): It offers a high-end texture, excellent breathability, and comfort, along with strong durability. However, it is expensive, requiring regular oiling to prevent drying and cracking; it is not resistant to scratches and is prone to mold when damp, with high maintenance costs, making it suitable for high-end office environments or users with sufficient budgets.
  5. Breathable Cotton + Mesh Combination: A commonly used material in high-end office chairs, it combines the breathability of mesh fabric with the wrapping sensation of foam, offering balanced performance but at a higher price, suitable for users with high requirements for the comprehensive performance of materials.

Frame Materials

  1. Metal Materials: Aluminum alloy is lightweight and strong, making the chair more portable and suitable for frequent moving scenarios; steel is durable and stable, capable of withstanding greater pressure and weight, making it suitable for long-term use scenarios.
  2. Plastic Materials: Lightweight and easy to clean, with a variety of colors and textures, they offer strong durability and UV resistance, making them suitable for outdoor or sun-exposed environments.
  3. Wood Materials: Naturally eco-friendly, they provide a warm and comfortable feel, commonly using oak or beech, offering excellent support and comfort, suitable for office environments with prolonged sitting.
  4. Special Materials: Such as bamboo (antibacterial, natural texture) or stitched leather (high comfort, strong texture), meeting personalized needs.

Other Materials

The structure of mesh office chairs includes the backrest, armrests, seat cushion, etc., with materials involving fabric, foam, molded bent panels, hardware fittings, and nylon products, collectively ensuring the functionality and durability of the chair.
