Office Chair Manufacturing Process
Admin October 22, 2026
The manufacturing process of an office chair typically includes steps such as base frame production, backrest frame construction, leather cutting and processing, foam cutting and assembly, leather and foam stitching, frame covering and decoration, installation of lifting and rotating components, installation of the base and casters, and installation of the headrest and armrests.

- Base Frame Production: This is the foundational step in office chair manufacturing. One method involves using a hydraulic press to bend square steel tubes into a square base frame with rounded corners at the four corners. Then, support steel plates and frame openings are welded, and S-shaped springs and support steel bars are installed. Another method is to weld a sturdy base, install steel springs from the front, and insert support brackets between the springs.
- Backrest Frame Construction: The backrest frame of the chair is welded, including the spine, armrest attachments, and other components. After welding, burrs and rough areas on the steel are ground down to ensure a smooth frame surface, preventing damage to materials such as leather during subsequent use.
- Leather Cutting and Processing: The leather is smoothed out and cut into the required pieces according to a pre-designed template. During the cutting process, natural flaws in the leather are avoided, and the color and texture of each piece of leather are ensured to be consistent to guarantee the aesthetic appeal and coordination of the office chair's appearance.
- Foam Cutting and Assembly: Foam blocks of different densities are cut according to the needs of different parts of the seat. Soft foam is used for cushioning to provide a comfortable sitting experience, while hard foam is used for shaping and stability to ensure the seat maintains its shape. There is also a method where harder foam cushion pads are cut first, followed by softer, fluffy foam pads for the seat and backrest sections.
- Leather and Foam Stitching: The leather is divided according to size and stitched with the foam to form the leather surfaces of the seat backrest and seat cushion. There is also a method where the leather is first glued to the harder foam cushion pad, then a slightly larger foam pad is cut, and the leather is pleated and stitched.
- Frame Covering and Decoration: The stitched leather cover is placed over the metal frame surface, wrapped with foam padding, and secured with cover plates and screws to the frame. There is also a method where particleboard, foam padding, and leather wrapping are added to the welded frame.
- Installation of Lifting and Rotating Components: A hydraulic rod for the lifting valve seat is installed to control the chair's lifting and 360-degree rotation, meeting the different height and angle requirements of the user. There is also a method where adjustable-height armrests, hydraulic rods, gas springs, and the bottom support rods of the seat are spliced together with the metal base.
- Installation of the Base and Casters: An aluminum base and casters are installed to ensure the chair can move freely, facilitating the user's activities within the office area. There is also a method where the wheels of the seat are directly installed at the bottom.
- Installation of the Headrest and Armrests: The headrest and armrests are inserted into specific positions to complete the assembly of the office chair, providing support for the user's head and arms.
