Office Chair Making Process
The production of office chairs involves multiple meticulous steps, covering frame construction, elastic support, component processing, assembly, and debugging.

Step 1: Bottom Frame Construction
Workers use hydraulic-powered machines to bend steel tubes into specific shapes, constructing the frame structure for the bottom cushion. During this process, the bending angle must be precisely controlled to ensure the frame meets design dimensions. Subsequently, the frame ends are connected, and steel bars are welded in the middle to form the basic structure supporting the seat position adjustment mechanism. After welding, the strength of the welds must be inspected to avoid the risk of breakage during subsequent use.
Step 2: Elastic Support System Installation
S-shaped steel springs are hung from the front to the back of the seat frame, forming an elastic mesh structure. This design effectively disperses body pressure, enhancing seating comfort. To increase stability, reinforcing bars are placed horizontally and cross-fixed with the steel springs to prevent spring displacement or deformation after long-term use.
Step 3: Back Frame Processing
The main frame of the chair back is constructed, including components such as the spinal support structure and armrest connectors. After steel processing, burrs must be sanded with sandpaper or grinding tools to avoid scratching the leather or affecting assembly precision. Some high-end products pre-install lumbar support adjustment mechanisms at this stage to meet personalized needs.
Step 4: Leather and Foam Processing
The leather is laid flat on a cutting table, and patterns for the seat, backrest, and other parts are cut according to templates. The foam filling must be selected based on the part: high-density foam (typically 40-50kg/mยณ) is used for the seat cushion to provide sufficient support; low-density foam (25-35kg/mยณ) is used for the backrest to enhance fit. After foam cutting, it must be aligned with the leather edges to ensure matching dimensions during sewing.
Step 5: Sewing and Upholstery
Industrial sewing machines are used to sew the leather and foam together, with some products using double-needle machines to sew decorative thread patterns. Components such as the seat backrest and side panels are sewn separately and then fitted into contour covers to fix their shape. This step requires even stitching with a needle spacing of 3-5mm to prevent leather cracking.
Step 6: Final Assembly and Debugging
Cardboard and foam layers are sequentially attached to the surface of the backrest frame, followed by wrapping with a leather cover. When installing the sliding plate assembly, the position must be calibrated to ensure smooth forward and backward adjustment of the seat cushion. After installing the hydraulic cylinder, the height adjustment function (typically with a stroke of 8-12cm) and 360-degree rotation flexibility must be tested. After connecting the aluminum base to the casters, the load-bearing capacity (generally required to support over 120kg) and rolling resistance must be checked.
Step 7: Detail Refinement
When installing the headrest, the angle range (typically ยฑ15 degrees) must be adjusted to ensure ergonomic compliance. The locking stability of the armrest height adjustment mechanism must be tested to prevent accidental slipping during use. Finally, an overall appearance inspection is conducted to remove excess glue or thread ends, completing the product packaging.
